N/S Rex Ryan Wants To Return To The Jets (And He’s Probably The Only One That Wants To Be There) (6 Viewers)

In defense, he’s also 46-50 as a Jet HC.
Sometimes a reg season record can be deceiving. A HC almost never takes over a good team, it could take 2+ yrs to turn it around so the record reflects that

Ryan is weird though.
He started out with two AFCCG appearances and fizzled out.
It’s like a Benjamin Button run.

Past failure? Go look up what he accomplished. I believe he went to 2 afc championship games in a row? Not a failure imo.
Yep.
Back to back AFCCG with that franchise, look at their history, and he’s far from a failure. Anyone implying that he is a failure is 💯 delusional lol. Such is their right.

I wouldn’t say he was a failure considering the Jets history, but his Jets career after those two seasons is middling.

Yea not even remotely close to a failure. He had them relevant and a legit contender. Not many Jet coaches have had his success

He’s got more playoff wins than any coach
in Jets history

Even though the record doesn’t say this, I can guarantee you if you asked Brady what defense he didn’t want to face the Jets when Ryan was the coach would be at least near the top of the list. His QBR was 20 points lower against Ryan’s defenses.

💯. And two consecutive AFCCG’s to boot. Anyone calling him a failure is in la la land.

Or they’re a very young person who just started watching football, and doesn’t realize just how good Ryan was for that franchise.

You all are right…”Failure” was too harsh and honestly didn’t accurately convey what I was trying to say.

Perhaps “Past flame-out” was the better phrase for me to use there…someone you once had and eventually realized or came to the conclusion that he was not the right guy.

I’ll also agree that the Jets were more fun to watch back then and were not as dreadful to see on the Primetime schedule every other week when he was there compared to now and just about any other time period outside of the fairly brief Parcells years.

Had no idea we had so many Rex Ryan Truthers here on SR though. Fascinating. 😅

Hey man, I like weird people! Rex and his foot fetish was pretty weird! So, I’m just supporting him… lol

I stand with Rex! Although I’m not a foot person! 💩 is weird lol

What sent his time downward was Sanchez falling off a cliff after the butt fumble. The he had to turn to Meano Geno, the uncool version if Mean Gene

he's probably itching to get back into coaching. DA's recent 7-game losing streak was starting to challenge Kotite's undisputed title as "worst HC ever, with at least 75 games under their belt". Kotite probably eager to "pad his lead" some more.
Eberflus is catching up!

lol... it's all good. I respect the guy, he's crazy but his defenses were always fun to watch. IIRC Brees and Payton had their share of struggles against that defense.
