I think this was more a little bit of hysteria over the child not being vaccinated, though that is just conjecture.

we literally recently went through this - a potential meningitis diagnosis.

105 fever is serious business for anyone

thankfully, they were able to rule it out - but as a parent, it was a harrowing experience with our 2-year old

105 fever, I would be in the ER in a heartbeat. This case was nowhere near that though. It was only a fever of 100.That's just where you start to get concerned. My daughter gets that, I'm just giving her Tylenol or ibuprofen to get her fever down. Certainly not worthy of DCS or a SWAT team getting involved.

and the 105 fever was something I saw on a local Arizona ABC affiliate:

Townsend says this all started back in February when the parents took the 2-year-old-boy, who isn't vaccinated, to a naturopathic doctor for a fever of about 105. The doctor instructed the parents to take the infant to the emergency room but after the doctor's visit the child's fever broke, so they never went.

I think that's what put this kid on the map - when I saw the link from theblaze, I looked up local coverage (which I tend to try and do in cases like this which end up on a more national stage).

And thanks. It was the second scariest thing I've gone through with one of our kids. She had several of the symptoms, but we were fortunate that's not what it was.

I have to give that state rep kudos for recognizing that the legislation that she pushed through was abused in this case.

Having read the story from the original post, it's difficult for me to form an opinion one way or the another. I will definitely agree that it seems that there was a misuse of force here. Invading someone's home in the middle of the night is somewhat drastic to say the least! On the other hand, where does the potential of public safety fall into play.

I don't know what the doctors intentions were or how they came to that diagnosis. I will say that if that had been my child I would have gone straight to the ER regardless of his/her temp. I can assure you that my financial situation wouldn't have played a part in that decision.

Anyway, this is basically a two edged sword. One of the problems that I have found, social media stories (such as this one and many others) usually have a hidden agenda. It's generally slanted one way or the other and I find myself trying to solve a puzzle rather than reading an informative story! And that's sad.
