Rizzi can set himself apart from bottom tier candidates by beating Rams (3 Viewers)

Beating the Rams would definitely be a mark in his favor. As would helping take the team on a 3 game win streak. Running the table gets him the job. No easy feat with Green Bay in Green Bay in late December on the schedule. Even losing one or two games along the way should put him on the short list.

For me personally, any season where we beat the Cowboys, Falcons, and Rams is a good year. Even with all the crap-ball in the middle.

Side thought... How in the H, E, double hockey sticks did we lose that first game to the Falcons and that last game to the Panthers? Those are the two games that haunt us. The rest were and still are completely understandable. Those were on the head coach all the way IMO. Never was a DA basher, but there's no way not to draw that conclusion. Wish Rizz woulda been moved to interim at least a week sooner.

I'm not sure if he's our future head coach, look at the raiders and Pierce, he galvanized the team after a head coach firing so they hired him full time and it's gotten worse.

We have to get it right this time and really find a guy outside of this building with a ability to lead men.
I agree that the odds are against an interim coach succeeding long term but I don't think Pierce is a good comparison to Rizzi. Pierce didn't start coaching in the NFL in any capacity until 2022 as a linebackers coach. His experience before the NFL was running a national high school powerhouse into the ground, followed by getting ASU in trouble for recruiting violations. He was severely under-qualified for the Raiders job.

I'm speaking more about the decision to go with the interim coach without doing a thorough interview process because you think he can carry over into the new season.

I think the word we were sold was "continuity", let's have a real shakeup.

In principle, the “clean house” mentality makes sense. The main problem as I see it is the newness of the offense. Do we really want another scheme change? But an external hire is likely to want his own OC and DC. The defense OTOH has been disrupted to an extent by DA’s firing. It’s in flux, and it’s unclear how much turmoil a new DC would engender,

I'd want to see him do it at least one more time vs either Commanders or Packers. Preferably both.
That’s asking for a lot lol! If he wins this Sunday and he beats those two teams, then I think we have an elite HC in Rizzi. I’d love for him to be able to pull it off!

A win this weekend earns this staff and these players a ton of credibility. Show us that we are better than last season. Show us the future is in the building.

I'm not sure either, there are no guarantees, but this team was at absolute rock bottom the last number of games with DA. The 2 wins with Rizz were great but what was more important to me was how hard the team was playing. If he can take them from rock bottom to still playing hard at the end of the year, I think he deserves consideration, that doesn't mean he will get the job, there well may be a better candidate....who knows at this point....

Nothing against Rizzi but we're yall the same whodats that praised DA being the next HC when Payton left??

Nothing against him but I want an entirely new HC for this team.... if he does well here during his interm great hope he gets a shot elsewhere..... I want a complete overhaul on all staff.... to help get rid of the stinch left over from Payton/DA

I don't want anymore excuses lined up for Loomis if he stays as the GM....

Beating the Rams would not grant Rizzi the HC job. Nor would it put him at the top of the HC list. He should be judged by his entire body of work. We don’t know how we will finish the season. Everyone chill until all of the episodes are done. Then he could state his case, whether he has a good one or not. He’s doing great so far

The Eberflus, Pierces, annd Allen’s are the norm in HC carousels. It’s common for a team to hire a guy they’ll be moving on from in 2-3 years.

Meanwhile coaches like Tomlin and Payton are rare air and Rizzi has a long way to go to have a chance at that status, but he can separate himself from the bottom rung by not making costly coaching mistakes and beating a team thats favored to defeat us.

Rizzing McVay would be a signature win, the type that seems to escape those inevitable 2-3 and done hires.
I see Payton in Rizzi, those other guys I've seen them. They just don't give that air of inspiration.

I've seen it in the Army. Those guys who know how to bring that inspiration. Those that are just meh

There's always a danger of falling in love with the 'Interim coach' bump, but I'll say this.

What we've seen from Rizzi the past two games just magnifies how much DA had totally checked out on this team.
