Rizzi is 3-1 now (1 Viewer)

There’s also the fact that he doesn’t offer much flexibility as #3. I say that because your swing usually plays LT and RT. Does anyone trust Penning at LT?

That's fair. I guess I have some hope that he is at least serviceable now at LT since he has played there before. But I was thinking maybe you move Fuaga from RT to LT if your LT gets hurt with Penning at RT. And he just plays RT if Fuaga gets hurt. That way Penning never has to play LT and you have decent options in the event of injury to either Tackle.

I like him a lot and he deserves consideration but that’s a big risk. He’s have to give some type of action plan if they going to consider keeping someone already in house when they may have more qualified candidates out there. I like him a lot just don’t know that it’s what is best for us to move forward.

That works too

No doubt Fuaga would be a monster at Guard, I just think he'd be a much better RT than Penning. Penning has come along well, but I don't think he's yet to the point where you don't look at ways to upgrade at RT and I have some concerns about giving him a big long term contract. I also think you can probably get some good starting Guards in the 2nd through 4th round of the draft.

I'm particularly concerned about what happens with Penning's progress if we change the scheme and/or Benton and Dennison leave.
Penning is a top 5 RT in run blocking in his 1st full yr starting and has made great strides in pass pro. I leave him right where he is and watch him develop. He's better than Ruiz is now. Making the @14 pick in a great OL yr a LG is a waste to me.

The players play for him, seeing Alvin walk over to calm him down was interesting.

The passion is there and he’s won more close games than Allen was able to do.

He’s got the Campbell vibe but part of me still wants something fresh, and maybe he is that something fresh. His interview isn’t over
I think this pretty much sums up how I feel as well.

If we take out Washington and Green Bay, Rizzi’s our man.
If we beat those two with our backup QBs he should be the highest paid HC in the league lol. I’d say if we don’t lose both games by double digits he deserves a shot lol

I agree

There’s some good guards in the mid rounds this year that can immediately contribute. We have 4 picks combined in the 3rd and 4th rounds so that’s prime time to pick one.

I think he needed to get close to it. Beating the Falcons, Browns, Giants and Raiders isn’t good enough. He’ll get an interview though.
I agree with Elias’s points as well as yours.

I think if he beats one of WSH/GB/TB(and of course LV) that would 5-3. There’s also the fact he’ll be without Carr for likely the rest of the season. 2-2 without Carr would give him some momentum imo.

If he only beats the raiders I don’t think he gets the job and if he goes winless certainly not. I think the next two weeks against competent teams will tell us a lot more especially how he handles a backup QB in this situation.

This draft is loaded with OGs. I'd come away with 1 of each. Ruiz is not a maulers and seems soft. I'd add a marker next to Penning and make that side of the line nasty.

I'd give the Bears and Bengals and call ti see if they have interest in a young RG.

RIzzi has the right kind of attitude and is a great leader.

I think if he got a OC and a DC that knew what they were doing.. he would keep a team under control..

Id say hes a poor man's Mike Tomlin.. ijs.. if I was a NFL athlete.. I wouldnt want to piss Mike Tomlin off.

I say hes a poor man's Tomlin because Tomlin knows defense like its no one elses business he can coach the heck out of a defense..

Was watching the game, and Ruiz got blown up a number of times. Prob his worst game of season. I’m willing to give him a pass considering he was in concussion protocol a portion of the week.

Still the NFL is a follow the money league, he recently got paid and is under 28, they won’t be using a high end draft pick at his position nor will they be looking to upgrade him.

Yeah, we are pot committed to Ruiz. Not only did we pay him but he's already been restructured once and they will most likely have to restructure him again this year.

Literally every candidate that get interviews comes with a detailed action plan. If he doesn’t come with one, it’ll probably be the quickest HC interview in NFL history. “Don’t call us; we’ll call you.” 😂

To your point though, it would have to be a very good one and outshine the others.
