Rizzi: Rattler and Haener will compete in practice to see who starts vs Commanders

People are far too invested in favourites. It's obvious where this is the case. Let's wait and see how either does with the opportunity to prove they can ball at an NFL level.

The same scouts that let these dudes drop to the 4th and 5th round? I don't think the scouts believed they are starting caliber QB's either.
LOL SMH you want me to post the LONG list of QBs drafted that scouts didn't think they were starting caliber? AND the longer list of QBs that scouts said that were bonafide day 1 starters or going to be starters that were BUSTS? Just ridiculous. Or better yet the list of QB that scouts said were not NFL caliber that won SBs

Here's a scouting report on a QB It may be Haener's

“‘Tends to side-arm his passes going deep,'” raising a skeptical eyebrow. “‘Lacks accuracy and touch on his long throws. Seems more comfortable in these short-intermediate passing attacks.’ Well that’s the whole design of the spread offense.”

Rattler had a decimated offensive line. He should get a chance with the original 1st game starting 5.

SFIAH

Chargers game he had pretty much the entire starting offense except Shaheed and McCoy and he got benched. I think they should give Haener at least two games here. If that doesn’t work out give Rattler another shot. It’s a long shot that either of them do anything but we might as well give them both a shot while we have this opportunity.

You were the one that brought scouts up, not me. I dont have the opinion that scouts and GM are some all-knowing powerful people that know everything. Now you are bashing them when you were praising them a second ago.

Did you not post this???

My mentioning of scouts was that you are not an NFL level scout, coach or player to make a determination on what the career of a rookie and a 2nd yr QB that both have had minimal playing time will be

In my humble thinking process, because of other needs and where I think we’ll draft, no other QB will have more potential than either Haener or Rattler at this point. We need to build around them and make sure we know what we do and we don’t have in both of them. And we don’t know about either at this point.
Sheduers Sanders is wayyyyy better than Haener or Rattler. I would throw them both in the trash can for Sanders. Sanders with a decent OL and coach is Drew Brees.

Was my response about scouts because you posted about them first? Yep.

But anyway. Who cares that I am not a scout? That's what these boards are for, my own opinion. You don't like it then move on. Scouts in the NFL aren't some football superhumans. They are just regular people who chose that profession. It doesn't mean they know how to evaluate talent any different than other people who aren't that watch the game.

I like his talent, but I don't care for the baggage he'd bring because it's clear Deion Sanders is gonna have a say in how a given team handles his son. I'd rather let some other team handle all that drama.

Wouldn't you if that was your son and you had influence like that!

The answer to that isn’t relevant tho is it? The point is that it wouldn’t be a desirable situation for a front office at all. If he struggles or is viewed as an issue, his dad, who has been holding his hand on the field since he was a freshman in high school, could likely be a major issue in the media. Look no further than Craig James getting Mike Leach fired from Texas Tech. You won’t find many people in that program or in the know, if any, that agreed with James but actually sided with Leach.

Finally got a chance to listen to Rattler’s post game interview and he said, about a minute in to the video, when asked about his preparation for the game, that he didn’t have a lot of “time on task” during the week and just had to trust in the guys. About five minutes in, he said he “didn’t have any reps with the ones this week.”

So, gamesmanship or something else by Rizzi, but based on Rattler’s comments, the decision was apparently made early on.

This might have come up in other discussions by now but I thought it was interesting.
