Roster Moves (1 Viewer)

Good on the Saints for elevating some of our Practice Squad folks to get them a big paycheck at the holidays. We do this every year and it is one reason fringe players want to come to NOLA to compete.
Spoilsport Alert: it might also be the case that so many players are injured that the practice squad players are needed. Or, did I miss some sarcasm?

My hope is Rattler becomes the QB that a lot of talking heads said he can be...
Throws 3 TD's, 300 yds, & we win 28-14.

I don't care about losing to better our draft position.
Anyone who has actually played the game knows you want to win at the end of the season so that next year looks brighter...
To finish strong!
Luckily "having played the game" is not a prerequisite to fan hood.

At this point in the season, when all is lost but the future, we have to look at it as the players do: it's a business. And for the long term benefit of the team is to NOT win the game, no matter how it makes some fans feel.

Many of the players simply won't be here next year, and if they're "too injured/sick/personal reason" to play, then a loss won't really be held against them in future negotiations. Younger/rawer players want the chance to showcase a skill so if they don't make it here, they might get a shot elsewhere.

How can we be so selfish as to "want to finish strong" when it's likely that the only thing which MIGHT draw a caliber HC during the off-season is draft picks. It certainly isn't going to be "youthful roster" or cap space.

Truth is: the only connections between this year and next is what draft position this team leaves for that one; and the fans. You either want us to succeed, or you don't.

As Saints fans, "maybe next year" involves "forward thinking" in different ways.
