So sad. I saw this article from about a week ago:

Ed Daniels is now in a New Orleans hospital, thanks to Gayle Benson's kind gesture

The longtime WGNO-TV sports director was flown from Los Angeles to New Orleans on Monday after suffering a heart attack and being hospitalized in Southern California in late July.

this is very sad, he wasnt even that old, he was still working for a living. Such a good guy too.

I volunteer at the Zurich golf tourney most every year, Ed would always sport his credentials on a St Louis Blues lanyard. I generally wear mine on a Pittsburgh Penguins lanyard. We talked hockey on several occasions. He was always kind and respectful to the volunteers. Sad to hear of his passing. Peace to him and to his family.
