The Saints need and can get three starters for the defense in the first three rounds. The offense is good enough to win games for the Saints. One of the better ones in the league in fact. The defense is not. Not even close.

The mock upgrades every position of need and is actually realistic.

It looks pretty good,I don't think that we will spend the money on Smith though.Doesn't he still have time left on his contract?........If it were me I would make him earn a bug payday.I would want to see it for another year.I also agree with others that we need Dline help I seee us getting this with either Dorsey/Ellis we either move up to get one or one somehow falls to us.If you look back at Saints history there is a trend there showing that the Saints don't take Cb in the first round especially in the top ten.I also agree that Usama Young is gonna be more than a special teamer.

Look for another big name free agent signing with the money not spent on Will smith.I could also see us waiting on Colston,the guy is a 7th round pick.Altough he has shown he can play at a high level he still needs to earn a big payday.

That's an interesting take on things about Will Smith not getting an extension = an extra defensive free agent. I would like to see it go that way as well and to be honest that it was prevented me from adding another big name to our free agent list.

As for not extending Colston, that just isn't going to happen. I normally wouldn't condone this but if he is not given an extension this off-season then he really needs to hold out of training camp for one.

i can see us extending colston and evans, but not smith (not yet, anyway)... we just got a new D line coach, i'd wait to hear his evaluation as to smith's willingness to shed a few pounds and play up to his potential (i might not agree with him, but i'd want to hear from him)

good job on the mock, i know how hard they are to do... i personally don't see anything wrong with hoping for even larger upgrades, such as briggs *and* suggs at LB and even a decent CB or two tossed in... and i love the idea of faneca for both his ability and leadership (the same for someone like zach thomas, his smarts and leadership would be worth a lot of money)

if they feel that last year's OL draft picks will pan out we won't need any via draft this year, which means (imo) we draft as much D up the middle as possible... DT, all LB positions, SS and FS (i think steltz will be a player, i don't know if he'll last till the 5th though)

I'm starting to lean that way on Will Smith too. I love the guy and he's by far our best defender, but he still has a year left on his contract and we could always franchise him next year if things don't work out. The way I look at it is we have about a 5 year window to win a Super Bowl with Breesus at the helm. And we should do everything in our power to try to make it there while we still have him at QB.
