Saints 2023 Opponents (3 Viewers)

This is rotated by the league. The AFC gets the home game for the 17th game in the schedule in 2023. We had the extra home game this year, but we played a game in London.
Yes, I know how it works.

Getting jobbed out of another home game to play in London is what makes her weak.

We get a home game snatched away at every opportunity. First season of 17 games? - lose home game; Weather issues? Lose home game. Want to grow the game in London? Lose home game.

You're grasping at straws. Every team plays a home game overseas at some point. You're right, we should have played a home game after a hurricane with no power.

Go and look up how many teams have lost home games to play in London and see if it's all equal. And google some owners you think of as strong and see if you can find quotes from them pushing against playing there and losing home games.

And yeah, sometimes weather forces the issue, but then shouldn't we get more leniency on things like overseas games or getting chosen to start off the new schedule with fewer home games?

Fact is, a strong, vocal owner doesn't get the short end of the stick at every opportunity and that's exactly what Gayle gets. Don't even get me started on penalty discrepancies, COVID punishments, etc.

Only 4 of those teams finished above .500 this season. The NFC/AFC South are dog water divisions...

That game being in London was the only good thing about that game

Get a good coach. That's a schedule that could allow us to win more than 10 games.

We had to go to London because we’re hosting the superbowl in ‘25. Every team that hosts a Super Bowl has to give up a home game to London. Has nothing to do with Gayle being a terrible owner lol

They should pay us to go sit through that horrible home schedule. My God.

Why Are All the London Games So Bad?

The broad crappiness of these games actually makes perfect sense if you understand how the NFL decides which teams play in London. That is, the NFL doesn’t decide which teams play in London. The league leaves that up to the teams, who volunteer to give up one of their home games.

Teams are only willing to give up a home game if they don’t have a lot to lose. If you have a good football team, you don’t want to give up a home game for competitive reasons. Losing home-field advantage could limit your odds of making the playoffs.

From a financial perspective, the NFL reimburses teams for the losses associated with giving up a home game, and pays them an additional $1 million. So what this really comes down to is who is willing to take a decreased chance of winning for a guaranteed chance at $1 million?
