It was one thing to kick the can and go all in when we were a playoff team, winning double digit games, and were on the cusp. It was acceptable to sacrifice wins in the future when a championship was in reach.

But kicking the can when you’re not a playoff team is foolish, and we’re seeing the rotten fruits of those decisions. We’re closer to the bottom dropping out than we are to being a playoff team.

And using injuries as an excuse is just bullshirt to the highest degree. All teams suffer injuries, but quality teams have depth. Don’t forget the 2009 Super Bowl team lost the starting left tackle in preseason and stating LDE just before the playoffs, not to mention other multi game injuries to key players (Porter, Greer, Bush, Ellis, Fujita, even Hartley).

It's not 20/20. This conversation has been going on for at least as long as Drew has been retired if not a bit longer. We needed to stop kicking the can 4-5 years ago. Right around the first year Drew missed a lot of time when he tore up his thumb. It was becoming apparent that he was losing it a bit and that the window had closed. He nearly retired at the end of 19 and came back for one more shot, but we knew it was over. Once he was actually retired it was closed closed and there were LOTS of us that were wanting to get out of the win now cap mentality and rebuild. Loomis came up with the whole "continuity" thing as we are where we are.

Fine, you have your opinion on when they should have stopped. So, they didn’t but they have now. Why still whine about it?

They didn’t make the deal for Adams likely because they are considering the cap + current predicament just like you were suggesting.

I don't understand why the Saints would do this. Until they get their injuries under control and get a decent blocking o line, it's not going to matter. It's just lipstick on a pig.
