Saints Cap Moves: $20,743,993 cap space ….. 7 restructures, 2 voids re-signed, 1 paycut, 1 release (76 Viewers)

Who else have the base treated poorly in your opinion
Everybody associated with the Saints who gets any kind of headline at all, at this point.

Dante Pettis was just re-signed. He’s a kick teams guy and something like WR6 on the depth chart. I thought he did okay when called on, and was certainly not a negative contributor to the team when called on by dropping passes that turned into INTs or fumbling trying to get extra yards or whatever… but people are being jerks about him being brought back. They’re crying for MVS to be re-signed instead (although they do two different things in the offense) but when MVS was first signed, they were jerks about bringing him in, too. It’s like lots of fans have an “I hate everything, prove me wrong” mindset about the team and it’s made the things about sharing fanhood way less fun. I was surprised when people left their harsh opinions about the on-field product out of their comments when the young man who worked as an a/v tech for the Superdome was announced as one of the victims in the January 1 French Quarter attack. Surprise should not be my reaction to people being decent humans.

The team posts happy birthday for a player or coach, and it’s “CUT THIS BUM I DON’T WANT HIM” instead of just saying nothing at all or just being kind for someone’s frickin birthday. It’s subhuman depravity that will nonetheless be defended with statements like “let me be a fan how I want” which, again, makes fanhood as a shared experience something I want to do less.

I can see that but do you really feel the bad outweighs the good

Well said. A lot of hive mind, monkey-see monkey-do quasi-cyber bullying among our fanbase. They hate everything, and you best not say anything otherwise to the positive or you’ll catch the wrath yourself.

I think the team has more question marks than sure things, I did not expect the people to turn into this.
We hit the jackpot and now we back broke lol
Some people are having a tough time adjusting lol I feel like we dominated enough to the point when we lose to the falcons I tell my atl buddies it’s about time

So how much cap do we have left now?
It’ll still be somewhere around $20 million after Mathieu’s paycut cap savings and Justin Reid’s year 1 cap hit are accounted for.

Over The Cap is counting the updated cap hits of Young and Johnson right now.

All OTC has so far is the left over signing bonus charge from their last contract. There new salaries and signing bonus charges are yet showing and likely won’t for a few days.

It’ll be interesting to see if any void years were added, and what the void $ amounts are, for keeping their first year cap hits low near the cap numbers showing.

I think Johnson’s 1st year hit won’t be higher than 3m-5m. Chase Young’s year 1 would have to be closer to 7m-9m given the contract value and AAV. But they may to try to keep it around the 5m-6m range to have a little more room to spend this year. Young’s 2024 cap number was 3.5m but that 1yr/13m deal was structured with roster/gameday bonuses.
