Saints Cap Moves: $20,743,993 cap space ….. 7 restructures, 2 voids re-signed, 1 paycut, 1 release (58 Viewers)

FWIW, Underhill said on his Nickcast today that he thinks the Saints want to fill the hole at CB in free agency. Doesn't mean they will get it done, but they are at least going to try.

I wonder if they are looking at Asante Samuel, Jr. given his connection to Staley?

Nick also said that they are looking to bring Patrick back, but they want to sign a Guard to play ahead of him and have him for depth.

$2,464,000 cap savings from Werner’s restructure.
Available cap space now at $15,887,993.

Not many left available - Shaheed, Moreau, Kamara, Gray. Jordan, Mathieu and Hill are salary reduction candidates. Wilson still a cut candidate. We don't know yet if part of Shepherd's extension involved a 2025 cap reduction (likely) or what changes were made to Godchaux's contract.

If we can sign Becton the Saints will have the 2 top (1st round) drafted Guards (Ruiz and Becton) from the 2020 draft and the first DE drafted (No.2- Young) on the squad.
Note: Zach Baun was our 3rd round pick that same year.

Patrick should be a league minimum deal. Samuel may make some sense at the right price. Not much else really out there in free agency.

sorry if these have already been answered, but I have 2 questions:

#1 Roughly how much money is needed to sign this years draft picks, assuming no moving up or down?

#2 What happens if we end up cutting one of the players who just restructured? Is there an any sort of penalty, like an additional cap hit for this year, or is their number against the cap already baked in regardless of what happens?

We are pretty much maxing out our cap space immediately. Didn’t see that coming.

If that isn’t a sure sign that we are gearing up to be aggressive, whether it be free agents or trades, I don’t know what is.
