Saints Cap Moves: $28,318,521 cap space ….. 8 restructures, 3 extensions, 3 pay cut, 1 release [All current cap moves are in OP]

its crazy he was one of the best RB before signing with us. that should tell us a lot about the old coaching staff.
Negative, Ghost Rider. Just because he had an outlier 2023 doesn't mean he was one of the best RBs in the league. He scored more TDs that year than he has the rest of his career. He was a career 4.0 ypc RB when he got to NOLA, which makes him below average. One year doesn't make him one of the best backs in the league when the five previous seasons told us a very different story.

This is a huge problem. Anytime Mickey gets criticized for anything the default response is "oh he doesnt do anything". Mickey or Khai Harley has to be replaced with someone who knows football and not just rely on the HC to be a GM as well.
Why does Mickey or Harley have to be replaced in your opinion? Why do you disagree with Bill Parcels belief that the HC should be the one who picks players?

If Carr is going to be restructured, will it have to be before Monday? Pressumably?

This is just me spit-balling, but I’m starting to think that the team is waiting to see how Monday and Tuesday goes before turning in most of their transactions.

They’ve gotten into the habit of only creating space as they need it.

Obviously we have to get cap compliant, and there probably at least 2 or 3 moves we are going to make no matter what, but I’m guessing at least one of the big contracts, namely Carr’s, may determine exactly how we get there in conjunction with exactly how much space we actively need, if that makes sense.

I.E. Maybe Carr has agreed to a paycut (or some type of beneficial contract modification) but only for certain players or positions. Or maybe we have specific free agent targets, a couple of big ticket ones, and we are prepared to possibly go aggressive on the restructures contingent on how the tampering period goes.

I liked the signing of Williams two years ago, thinking he would have a solid impact however, these two years of his have been very forgettable. Easy cut.

The cap savings is certainly a big part of these moves but what gets me a little more excited is some necessary roster turnover that often comes with a new regime. I say, bring on the changes.
I thought he was gonna do well here too

I concur and yet if the Titanic has hit the iceberg and it's going down (7 game losing streak) removing the captain of the ship is an unnecessary gut punch. You should allow the captain the dignity to go down w/ the ship, not remove him so another person can come in and make everyone feel comfortable about a still sinking ship. Or in Rizzi's case...just slow down the sinking. He was never going to surmount the injuries anymore than Allen would have.

I know everyone absolutely wanted and needed something to happen in that moment but Allen would have been fired end of season regardless.

Still think it was an emotional decision spearheaded by Mrs B that ultimately did nothing in the grand scheme of things except satisfy the blood lust people had for Allen in that moment.
I disagree. It was a chance to give Rizzi a look at head coach and we actually had a chance at the playoffs in our crappy division. The players were fed up and done with DA. Firing him showed them that their owner cared about their input. And if Loomis was left to his own devices I believe he keeps DA another year using injuries as the excuse and citing the first two games as an example of how great DA was without the injuries.

I also don’t think DA earned the “dignity” of going down with the ship as he brushed off any personal accountability for his failures. He showed little dignity or honor in his leadership. Captains are relieved of command quite commonly for failures. Many times in some of the worst moments for the ship.

Mickey always has/had a plan. Cant see how people don’t understand this. It may not fall in line with how they perceive business should be done, but this is Mickey’s wheelhouse. He just hasn’t shown us that he can flip the script for this next era
Is a bad plan better than no plan?
