Saints Cap Moves: $33,780,933 cap space ….. 8 restructures, 3 extensions, 3 pay cut, 1 release [All current cap moves are in OP below line] (110 Viewers)

Carr has always kept a really low profile during the off season. Other than the odd appearance on his nephew's podcast, he doesn't maintain any kind of public presence. He could very well be wanting to leave or discontent, but his lack of public comments or presence during the off season is normal for him.

When public figures are out of the public eye, people start speculating why that is, because we have a tendency not to be comfortable with the unknown.

It's the same dynamic as why, when in the dark, we tend to see shapes that aren't really there. We fill in the missing information with our imagination. Our brains don't like the unknown or randomness, so we are constantly imagining patterns and connections that don't exist.

When a public figure doesn't tell us what they're thinking, our imaginations create what we think they must be thinking, because it gives us a sense of knowing the unknown.
That’s absolutely true. However, I’m not wondering why I’m curious. Ive always been that. I’m just wondering if there’s a connection between cutting the cap to a high degree and not sign anyone and Carrs silence. I realize that DC4 is normally quiet in the offseason. But he’s never been this quiet. For him not to represent the team for the Super Bowl and throughout the process of hiring a new coach. And even after they give him a public declaration that his their Qb. I’m a Carr fan, I’m not looking to nit pick anything he does. But you have to admit, it seems a little strange the goings on with the Saints right now. Even Mike Detilier agrees.

Thoughts on trading a 2nd or a 3rd rounder to Cincy for Hendrickson? I mean heck, we have the cap space now to kinda right that wrong. Didn’t Cincinnati finally give him permission to seek a trade anyway. They’re not getting a first for him.

If not man I’d be calling GB and asking what they want for Alexander
Well 1st I'm not quite sure how he'd fit in Staley's 3/4 hybrid. Also by the end of this coming season he'll be 31. Don't think I'd want to invest a 2nd ( I doubt we get him for less, and it may take more than that) plus he's going to want a long term deal at high $.
With Young and Granderson signed I may want to look to find an edge in the draft. In the 2nd maybe Umanmielen, Ezeiruaku. Or maybe sign Omenihu from KC , in 23 he had 7 sacks on 400 snaps and he's only 27.

Not a surprise. At this point almost everyone putting out content about the Saints try to make almost everything a sign that the Saints are moving Carr this season. It's not going to end until Carr is on the team on the first day of training camp or the Saints move Carr, whichever comes first.
Man Ross's likes and subscriptions must be down because he's been posting very obvious click-bait podcasts I mean look at the headline SPLIT INCOMING??? Derek Carr DEPARTURE IN 2025/2026 . Sounds pretty desperate for clicks to me

I understand it's curiosity and I'm not faulting you or anyone else. Curiosity is what drives all of us to try to understand and make sense of everything. It's also what killed the cat, but that's an entirely different conversation.

DC is normally hardly ever on social media. The last thing he posted was on 1/1/25 saying he's praying for N.O. He didn't post anything last yr when KK was hired. Besides my guess is he knows that anything he posts, even if he comes out and says he loves CKM and the Saints it will get spun and interpreted the way the doomers want. So why say anything?
Normally I agree. But it’s a lot of silence when you look at the opportunities. To the possibility that the Saints are trimming down the cap in an effort to move the savings to 26. I’d understand this, because if what it takes to afford to be great, is what Cincinatti has to spend on Burrow, Chase, Higgins and Hendrickson, then we clearly cannot afford to be great. And it’s not even close. Dallas isn’t even great and they spent a ton on money on Dak and the WR and are about to spend a fortune on the DE. We simply cannot afford to be good much less great, if that’s what it takes. So it makes sense, with a new coach, that you try and get your cap into shape. Because i highly doubt that a part of the hiring conversation was, “CKM, please chose the Saints, we will never be able to hire quality talent, because we’re always going to be cash poor”. They probably assured CKM that the cap hell theory was going to be fixed ASAP, and for him not to worry. And missing out on the free agents were just attempts to get superior talent at budget prices, like they did with Reid.

YUP , part of me wants him to come out and say he's good with CKM and wants to be here even though the haters will interpret it how they want to.

I still think that him waving his no trade clause for the right team does not mean he WANTS off the Saints , it just means he's open to the idea. And I would not blame him 1 bit with the treatment he's gotten from the fan base

Good stuff sir.

He was just as quiet last off season. He didn't comment on the KK hiring until OTAs. I think the cap situation is much like when we were going after Watson and didn't get him. I think we were going after Ward and Kupp and they got offers more than we were willing to pay and now we have all that $.
It's not like we lose it. And sometimes things shake up in the 2nd wave of FA and even after the draft.

Someone once said that the https://lockedonpodcasts.com/ network requires everyone to hype up their podcasts like Ross does. It's their brand, so anyone that wants to be a part of their network has to conform.

Years back when Ross would do videos with Duece Windham and Elias, he had a very different demeanor and delivery. I think Ross would be different and, a more to my liking, if he was working completely independently.

There is 1 thing that would change the internet reporting world so much for the better. If there was some way you could take your click back if you didn't like the podcast or the story so that these sensational wild podcasts and stories would not benefit from the " Ohh I gotta see what this is all about" clicks. You can unlike and you can cancel a subscription but you can't take back a click once it clicked

I wonder what the heck Carr's thinking and wish he'd speak up too.

I think he's the type that's "the last thing I said still stands until I tell you otherwise." If that's how he is, then the last thing he said about the Saints is that he wants to be with the team and win a championship, but he's not taking a pay cut. He stuck by not taking a pay cut, so I'm just assuming he's also sticking by wanting to win a championship with the Saints, unless he says otherwise or otherwise actually happens.

I hope that the Saints are as good about keeping other teams in the dark as they are at keeping us in the dark. It's a price I'll gladly pay if it gives them even the slightest of advantages.

The unspoken mantra of the ad driven publishing and advertising worlds is "made you look." That goes back as far as the first crowded marketplaces filled with people hawking their wares. We've changed a lot technologically, but not so much behaviorally. Same stuff, different tools.
