Saints Cap Moves: $15,887,993 cap space ….7 restructures, 1 extension, 1 release (300 Viewers)

Aside from the ankle twisting incident, what has been seen for people to not like Shepherd?

You guys spending hours breaking down DT film in your free time and know all of his assignments?

Not saying the guy is great, I’m just wondering how anyone could be so convinced that a rotational DT isn’t good enough to be extended a modest contract.

And he hates him because of that incident. I mean, what the heck?

I think it just falls into the category of an underwhelming move. Fans are excited for changes to get us as far away from the DA era as fast as possible. While other teams are negotiating big deals, we haven’t made any big visible moves to reshape the team.

Trading for Godchaux also falls somewhat into underwhelming territory, but at least it represents us moving in a new direction. As a result, very few (if any) posts were made to complain about that move.

The Saints hater brigade is already starting to get impatient and chirp, with Michael Thomas joining in on the “fun.”

Was to reduce his hit.
Ross explains it well in this short segment.

Starts at about 3:08 for the Shep stuff.

Right that part makes sense but it’s still an extension and he’s still on the team when honestly I thought he’d be straight cut. Havent really seen much good play out of him since he’s been here.

I ask this again…what specifically is he not doing? Are you grading tape, evaluating his technique, understand his gap assignments, is he not twisting or doing stunts when he’s supposed to, is he not minding the gap he’s supposed to, do you know when and if he’s assigned to take on blockers on a given play for run fit purposes? Are you watching the behind the QB view, the all-22? What is it?

This evaluation of a role playing DT intrigues me because it keeps getting repeated, yet here, we have a brand new coaching staff and front office that has poured over film and decided he’s worth a modest extension, but external fan observers say he isn’t worth it. Based on what? Has he just not made enough fun looking plays for your liking?
