Saints hire Brendan Nugent as O-Line coach; WR coach Keith Williams will return (6 Viewers)

It would just suck for Rizzi. Rizzi is like ok, I’ll guide this team the rest of the way, at the expense of my freaking job. If I can’t create chicken salad from chicken butt crevasse. It doesn’t seem fair that he’s auto fired.
I get what you’re saying, but to be fair he isn’t fired he just wasn’t retained. He took a promotion to interim HC and then wasn’t retained for that position. That being said, I’d hate to lose him as a ST coach but hope at least we’d keep Galiano.

Yea that’s it in a nutshell. Look at this this way, when BK first came to LSU he brought his band of assistants and fired away all of the local elite staff. Only to pivot a year later and re-hire them and double down with more. Frank Wilson, Blake Baker, Brad Davis, Bo Davis, Corey Raymond, People’s. BK figured out quickly that sometimes you have to retain what’s local and successful, instead of cleaning house , just for the sake of it.

I hope he brings Kris Richard back he was our best DB coach that I can remember. Even when Aaron Glenn was here the DBs were always out of place and messed up, Richard had them balling.

I don’t want Rizzi to stay. There’s alot of veteran players that were pushing for him to get the head job, I don’t want any excuse for them to try to tune out Moore and go to Rizzi.

Keep Galiano on as STC, let Rizzi go to Denver.
I agree. While all will be well and good this offseason there’s a decent chance this team will struggle next year. Losing creates chaos. There is a strong chance one of the vets that backed Rizzi is questioning who should be running the team. Just let Rizzi go to Denver and promote Galiano.

Yep. And Venturi actually remained in New Orleans through two head coaching changes, and was a part of the coaching staff when the Saints won their first playoff game. Unusual, certainly, but wouldn’t be unprecedented if Rizzi ended up staying. (I still expect he’ll end up in Denver, but it would be great to have him back if all sides think that can work.).
If it were my choice, I'd talk to Moore about promoting Rizzi to a position of being exclusively an Asst Head Coach. He would be Moore's number one helping to coordinate offense, defense and special teams with an emphasis on preparing to be a head coach. I think that could be beneficial to both Moore and Rizzi.

I get what you are suggesting? BUT..Listen this guys all want 1 thing. WIN. Now, suggesting a coup of the sorts, really don't think Rizzi is that sort of professional, and I honestly don't think the locker room is that immature to go to mommy when daddy says no. Just my opinion. Now there is a question whether or not the players will buy into the new HC. Sure, but hey, He put 55 on Buffalo and 40 on KC. That will definitely gain team respect right out the gate. FWIW.

Speaking of the oline…you all will enjoy this. Skip ahead past the opening and Ruiz’s early history says some interesting things about Pennimg and Rizzi

I told my wife while watching this, all the saints players I have listened 99.999% are humble, respectful, and simply professional on the podcast. Cam is Cam with his joking, but we know cams personality; These guys are never ever out there about me me me. For the most part, the are humble, and show respect for the other players who play with them. This was a good Podcast to watch. Some good stuff.

Yup, I posted almost the exact same thing earlier. That would be Rizzi's path to being a HC. he needs to break out of just being a ST coach, be more involved with either offense or defense. He could be the firey enforcer type

Sure right out the gate there will be a clear hierarchy, but the first sign of adversity you don’t want players to start mutiny and turning to Rizzi and tuning out Kellen.

It’s much better to just go ahead and move on and as said before “make things uncomfortable”
