PFT just tweeted this:

Coming soon at PFT: Saints hired former FBI director Louis Freeh to take top-to-bottom look at organization after bounty, wiretap claims.

Team spokesman Greg Bensel acknowledged and explained Freeh’s involvement.

“Serious allegations have been made about our organization this off-season; we take these allegations very seriously,” Bensel said via email. “As a result, we have hired the Freeh Group, founded by former director of the FBI and former federal judge Louis Freeh. Mr. Benson moved quickly to hire them and has spared no expense to get to the bottom of these allegations. We have given the Freeh Group complete access to our team and all of the individuals who have been associated with this news story.”

The findings of Freeh’s investigation aren’t currently known. The wiretapping allegations against Loomis, first reported in April by John Barr of ESPN, have yet to gain any real traction with law enforcement.

Now that bringing in the "big dog"! It'll be hard to argue with his findings!!

I'm not sure what to make of this.

So he was hired by the Saints to do an internal investigation on the Saints organization?

Well the saints are doing the same thing as the Nfl, remember they hired a former federal prosecutor to review the evidence against the Saints. So the Saints hire a former Federal Director to show they have cleaned up their act. That way if the Nfl tries to burn the Saints on any B.S. (ie: the argument at the OTA) the Saints can release their findings to the public showing that this is a Nfl witch-hunt.

And Flippy what's the reason(s) behind it. Is it to show Goodell that we are going above and beyond to ensure the alleged bounty culture is forever removed form the organization or is it to gather evidence to dispute Goodell- or both?

Updated first post with story.

I don't think this was a Benson effort to clear anyone's name, people.

This sounds to me like Benson wanted to know exactly what was going on in his organization. Maybe we'll know more when Florio sends out an actual story.

>>> The wiretapping allegations against Loomis, first reported in April by John Barr of ESPN,

I absolutely love how they included this detail. :9:

Benson just wants an analysis on what the heck is going on. Vicoldin-gate, bountygate, Wiretaps, snitching digruntled employees, liars, back stabbers, etc. Im sure Benson just wants to get a good inventory of the type of people he has in his organization.

My dad is retired FBI and knows Mr. Freeh personally, and said the Saints have made a good move by using him for this. This could be huge for us. Weather it is to clear the name of the organization, or to flush out someone that could possibly be involved on the inside. Whatever the case may be, Mr. Benson just kicked it up a notch.

Exactly he wants someone who is paid to be suspicious when there's nothing to be suspicious about.
