Saints hired former FBI director Louis Freeh to take top-to-bottom look at organization after bounty, wiretap claims (3 Viewers)

And another thing.. do you guys really think a powerful guy like Benson is going to tell the public "i do not have control of this team, so i hired a former FBI agent to investigate my team and tell me what he thinks?"

No way! He wouldnt need to tell the public about that! This has everything to do with Benson protecting the good name of his baby. The Saints :)

I have a bad feeling this is going to get ugly.

They won't find anything, but then Goodell can say "Haha beat you to it" and then create evidence and throw it in our faces.

I don't know why but I got a bad bad feeling this isn't good.

I think what some are missing here is Tom Benson's motivation for doing this.

As far as I can tell - Tom Benson is a very proud man. And even some times in the past his pride has gotten the best of Him... Katrina/Baton Rouge. Nevertheless, His organization has come under attack after just a few years of unpresedented success and high praise "how they aided in bringing back NOLA after the storm".

Now everything that his organization is and has done comes under attack - in a way, attacking him. Cheaters, liars, lack of institutional control... and the list goes on.

I do not see Benson just moving on from this and not making waves - which has alarmed me since this thing broke, it has seemed like he was willing to put up with what the NFL said as fact. -- that just does not sound like the Benson that we all know so well.

I think as a prideful man - proud of all that he and his organization has accomplished - and rightfully so, WANTS TO CLEAR his and the organizations name by whatever that means. If it means that he has to "clean up the Saints act" he will do that. If it means that he has evidence from these findings that are contradictory to the findings of the NFL - he will fight them with the fortitude of a prideful man trying to restore his reputation.

I think both options are on the table for why he hired the investigators - He WANTS his name back. One way or the other!

I respect Benson for it and believe he will restore his and the Saints' name in whichever way that means.

If this guy and his team find nothing, I hope the lawsuits flow like water down the Mississippi River on goodell.

Very well said. I agree 100%. Also the helmet in your avatar is freakin awesome.

Don't get your hopes up. I can almost guarantee you the Saints will not be filing any lawsuits against the NFL over bountygate.

thanks bro - yeah helmet if killer not sure where i snagged it from as it was a while ago. Just wish the Saints would go black helmet just once - especially this year.

This. Some might view this as "is my organization dirty or unethical" (which it could be) but it could also be "what is going on where people keep wanting to release damaging information, even if untrue? Do we trust and associate with the wrong people and get bitten? Is one of our organization the 'wrong people' that is the problem? Is it our PR and how we come across to the press or other teams?"

agreed. there were questions about direct orders being possibly ignored, and even worries about some of the people that were kept around the organization :):cough::felons::cough::). i think its a two-fold thing:

1) do i need to make big changes going forward?
2) how do i give the organization credibility back?

by instituting his own investigation he looks very proactive on the issues, no matter what course of action he takes. clearly if he keeps everyone its because he can now really believe in them and if a high ranking guy is axed its because HE was the problem, not the saints.

Barr at it again:

New Orleans Saints hire firm of ex-FBI chief Louis J. Freeh for wire-tapping probe, sources say - ESPN

This feels like 100% spin. Particularly this section:
"Outside the Lines" has interviewed several sources familiar with the wiring inside Loomis' Superdome suite. None could recall a time when the listening device in Loomis' suite was "switched over" so that Loomis could hear the local radio station's game broadcast.

Robert Carroll, an engineer for WWL radio who is familiar with the internal wiring of the Superdome, said he never rewired Loomis' Superdome suite, although Carroll acknowledged it's possible somebody else completed the project without his knowledge.

Sources with direct knowledge of the wiring inside Loomis' Superdome booth told "Outside the Lines" that they could not recall a time when Loomis had the WWL broadcast hard-wired to a receiver under, on or near his desk.

This is becoming downright spiteful from Barr.
