Saints met with QB Shedeur Sanders [Deion Sanders ok with Saints drafting Shedeur]

Should the Saints draft QB Shedeur Sanders if he falls to #9?

I already stated this earlier, but it is not ok for Archie to do it neither John Elway’s dad. It’s straight up nepotism to think because you were in the NFL that your son should be treated differently than any other prospect.

That's all fine and good, but neither Eli nor Elway ended up being poor leaders because they and their dads wanted to and did control where they played. And both were very successful QBs.

On the other hand, neither Deion nor Shadeur have refused to play for anyone. So I don't know why any of this is relevant or makes a difference regarding whether a team should draft Sanders

I’m not at all saying his dad shouldn’t help him make decisions, but where you are drafted is not your decision. That’s how it works for every player. Sanders is no different and to think he is different goes directly to my point that he has a big head. Both him and his dad do for thinking they can somehow manipulate teams they don’t like in to not drafting him.
I bet you do not feel that way about Archie.

It was an interview on the Tamron Hall show. I doubt he was serious and even if he was, he has apparently changed his mind and it has nothing to do with Shadeur as a player or a leader. It didn't change the fact that Eli and Elway were both very successful QBs and team leaders and they and their dads actually refused to play for the teams who drafted them. Where as Deion said that as a throw away line 3 months before the draft and has now said he's fine with the teams that could draft him.

If Sheduer had said that like Elway definitely did and I think Eli did as well, then maybe it would be an issue. But I think that Eli and Elway prove that even if he did say it, it wouldn't stop him for being a good QB.

There are many things to criticize Sheduer for, I just don't think this is one of them.

Maybe he walked it back because his son has been sliding down the board ever since he said that. There’s a really good chance he falls out of the top ten.

That's not how it worked for Eli Manning and his dad. It's also not how it worked for John Elway and his father. Whereas, neither Shadeur nor Deion has said Shadeur won't play for any team. In fact, Deion basically just said the opposite.
And Bo Jackson refused to play for the Buccaneers when they drafted him.

In all fairness the last part is not true. Deion has absolutely said there are teams his son will not play for.

I could care less about any of it.

I wouldn’t want him as an UDFA. I can’t see rooting for him even if he was to be successful with the Saints, seems like an arrogant jerk.

Yeah, I didn't see that he said that, but he apparently did. But, yeah, I don't really have an issue with it. Lots of players have refused to play for certain teams.

Deion strikes me as someone who would have loved to decide the future of his son by rejecting teams... it's ironic that the kid is in danger of slipping in the draft, and I guess in part because he can't get out of the shadow of his dad.

It’s not about Shedeur specifically. I don’t want a QB in this draft. I’d like to address other team needs/depth in this draft, then go after one next year after the Carr saga can end. A strong draft this year would permit the front office to move some picks next year to move up for a QB, if they really like one and that’s what it’d take to go get one… but it can’t be moving picks for a mid-major conference project DE with a high RAS score. It has to be for a quarterback this time.
I want a quarterback in every draft until we find the right one. This draft l don’t want one in the 1st round. Quantity will eventually work out. What I don’t want is to trade all those picks to move up when we need players at every position.
