Saints met with top QB prospect Cam Ward [Schefter: CLE, NYG or maybe Saints have to make an offer compelling enough for #1 pick]

Where there's smoke there's fire. The Saints are likely more motivated by the open quarel w/ Carr. Everything we've heard about him not wanting to take a paycut or being open to trade is coming from his dissatisfaction...not the Saints. They haven't said a word to the public, but I'm sure deep down they know a disgruntled player going into the Season isn't how you want to get 2025 kicked off.

I've heard some very interesting things about the Saints/Carr situation that happened before Moore was even officially hired which makes me believe the Saints would be happy to trade up for Ward if the price is right.

There's enough information whether you follow the trail or have inside sources that point towards what you're getting being accurate. I have no sources...just lots of research and data points. The moment Carr openly revealed he wasn't taking a paycut, it identified team/player were not in agreement, a 180 from the previous year where his restructure went off w/ out a hitch.

Something was likely said during exit interviews that lead to a disconnect, obviously the Saints requested some money back or to move money in a way that wasn't a standard restructure. Carr hinted as much when he said

That's the life of a quarterback," Carr told ESPN. "Whenever the season doesn't end the way [you wanted] that's the person people look at. 'Well what money can we free up to get this and do this' ... and I'm fully confident with what I put on tape. I'm not worried, if that's the case, and it had to change and all that kind of stuff. I'm super confident that whatever it is, I could get anywhere else to play. And so I'm not worried about that, but at the same time, I just want to win."

I'm not buying that. What's to learn at a pro-day in a controlled environment that you didn't already know from film? Had they said that after personally meeting w/ him (private workout or dinner) it would make more sense. They are driving up the price w/ a deliberate leak...but that only works if multiple people want the 1st pick, OR they are hell bent on picking him.

I'm not getting the vibe anyone else is willing to move up for it but us, and if it were the latter they'd be already rejecting calls. Only way this doesn't happen is if the Saints stand firm on their offer and don't sweeten the pot in such a way that truly entices the Titans.
I am one who wants the team to draft Ward so I hope you’re right. 😊

OMG, who could've predicted the trade price to take Cam Ward has risen? ShOcKiNg!

Here's my trade proposal:

The Saints get top pick, the Titans get pick #9.
Titans get Saints 2026 #1.
Titans get Saints 2028 #1, and a 1st round pick swap if the Saints finish higher in 2033.

Titans get:
Mickey Loomis
Adam West

Saints get:
Dylan Radunz, the player to be named not later, but earlier.

Saints will pay the Titan's stadium sales taxes collected for the next 5 seasons to the State of Tennessee.

What do you think?
Holy conjecture, Batman! (bolded)

💯. And not how you want to start Moore’s tenure here.

Many folks here don’t believe this lol. To each their own. Those folks need it written in the sky with magic marker, no reading between the lines with them. 😂

Yep. Carr definitely doesn’t want to be here, not saying he won’t be, but he’d rather get the heck out of dodge lol.

Donzo. I don’t know Adam at all but Mickey needs a fresh start for sure. 😀

Does anybody wonder if the Saints already told Carr they're moving up for Ward and they plan on keeping him in a Kirk Cousins role...and that's why the "open to a trade" thing grew legs?

Perhaps Carr isn't handling it as well as Kirk Cousins?

They're clearly baiting 2 and 3 to move up. They're not interested in moving down past a couple of picks at most. The best move for them would be to entice Cleveland and get some assets in the process.

I think he may know they’re certainly trying lol.

I concur, though the Giants appear to be in a "save my job role" for Dabol and thus that's why they added 2 veteran QB's. If his seat is hot, it doesn't make sense to draft a young QB early that the potential new coaching staff and or GM didn't choose.

That leaves only Cleveland and I see no reason for them to move up to #1 when the consolation prize if a team takes a QB is the #1 Edge or the #1 WR/CB

Which is why i pointed out in my post, their best case scenario was NY and that seems to have hit a significant snag (though it doesn't stop NY from taking a QB...it just doesn't make logical sense considering the uneasiness around their coaching staff + their latest moves)

I'm going on record and saying this trade happens if the Saints are serious. If they have their price and are unwilling to move I can see the Titans taking him just because but if the Saints don't want to have anohter Deshaun Watson moment (though it worked in their favor) I think they'll make the push to get the guy the want.

At the same point, you have to wonder what the Browns are going to do at QB? Maybe they think Watson is going to be okay and want to try to rehab him as a starting QB. But, I also can't see them going with Pickett if Watson can't play or they are done trying to fix him.

If that's the case, what will they do at QB? I know this will annoy people, but maybe Cleveland is a trade partner for Carr after June 1? If the Saints do trade up for Ward and Cleveland does not take a QB in the draft, a trade with Cleveland for Carr would allow the Saints to get a much needed draft pick if they pay the price for Ward. Of course, Carr would have to agree to the trade.
