Saints met with top QB prospect Cam Ward [Schefter: CLE, NYG or maybe Saints have to make an offer compelling enough for #1 pick]

Let’s not forget that we were 99% all in on Watson. I think if they love Ward, they’ll go and get him at whatever the cost. Knowing that they’d have their Qb1 for a decade. However, I’m not sure if the Saints are in “we have to find our QB1 ASAP” mode.
Next year unless someone slides that you like(there's more of a chance of Sanders sliding at this point; Cam will probably be the first quarterback drafted based on current chatter). I do think the plan is to give Carr an honest evaluation this year.

Per Ross Jackson we’ve had the fewest draft picks selected in the last 25 years. I agree with ya.

Having said that I love Ward and would not be mad at all if they swung for the fences and got him. Not a bit.
I’m not super high on him but having a potential franchise QB in year one of KM’s contract would be huge.

Plus next year’s draft doesn’t look that good at QB also.

My oldest son is a Miami fan. I've watched Ward play a good bit. I've not been a big fan. Is he talented, yes. But he makes those stupid throws at times. Across his body back over middle of field types of throws. Not real mobile if that's what you like. He may turn out good, I just don't see it
Correct. In a draft with the normal QB talent available he likely wouldn’t be a top 10 pick much less an overall number 1 possible pick.

I would take him over Sanders though

He has good anticipation. That goes well with a KM offense that is more scheme heavy than matchup dependent.

We really shouldn’t get excited though bc the Titans are not likely to trade down

Yea this could be the only year in the next three that we’re drafting top ten. Like you said, Sanders due to a slide, might be the best available QB for us to draft. The Saints front office needs to deep dive on Shadeur.

Unless we draft fantastically, I expect more of the same. Depending on injuries anywhere from 4-9 wins. Given our track record of rookies not producing much, I don't want to get my expectations up. A top 10 pick would not be out of the question next year.

I’ve got such mixed feelings about Shedeur. On the one hand, he’s been talked about as a top 5 pick all year, this will hopefully be the highest we’ll be drafting anytime soon, and QB is a definite need, not to mention the star power he'd bring with him (part of me thinks that some of the talk of him sliding is just to get him in range for Dallas). If he were to be available at 9 do you just take him and not overthink it?

On the other hand, I've seen him play a lot of games the last couple of years, and he is a good college quarterback, but I can't say I thought he was "elite." He had a lot of solid games, but not too many when he really wowed me by taking over.

He's got good, but not special, athleticism (like Brees?) and throws a nice, accurate ball (like Brees?) and can throw with touch (also like Brees?). But he also took a lot of sacks (not like Brees), and has a habit of retreating from the rush instead of stepping up (also not like Brees) that will need to get corrected. I also wonder how close he’s already been coached up to his ceiling.

Really, I kind of think he matches up a lot like Penix. Good arm. Productive. Good football IQ.
Yes, possibly. I think Penix coming off a season where he took a team that wasn’t as good as their record seemed and took them to the Natty really elevated him over Ward. I think that definitely helped his stock. I think normally Ward would be a 10-20 slotted pick but I very well could be wrong and it wouldn’t be the first or the last lol

It’s always an out of body experience to see college players say the Saints were one of their favorite teams growing up.
I love that he would love to play for the Saints. Just don’t think he’ll make it out of the top three picks, and don’t know that he’s worth the bounty of picks it would take to move up that far.
