It’s crazy how low the scoring averages have been throughout the league in recent years. Today it’s rare to hear about a team scoring in the 40s, when you used to see a few teams put up those points fairly regularly.

Even with all the rules now favoring offensive production, the scoreboard totals have been down on average across the league. It just makes me wonder how great the Drew Brees era would have been if our defense was consistently keeping opponents around 20 points or less during that period.

It always seems like when the offense was great, the defense failed. And when the defense was amazing, the offense sucked.

At least now we have a coaching staff that is getting the entire team to play equally bad. One side isn’t letting the other side down.
