excatly.. and this is one of my biggest issues even when SP was here. you could almost call the play based on the personellOur offense is 15 years old. We don’t use motion or scheme people open. The only thing we do is “mass subs” which worked for Sean because it was new and fresh. But now when we sub certain players in and it’s a dead give away.
Example:
When Smith comes in with Adam it’s a run.
Funnily enough, Andy is absolutely deadly against zone schemes. He was carving the Eagles up like it was nothing in the first half. Then they switched to bump coverage in man and he kinda got lost.Seahawks were playing zone coverage and kept getting burned.
This is where DA needs to use his DC chops to see why our offense doesn’t work.
It's always been a little weird to me, too, considering Payton was able to adapt his offense for any QB he didn't draft who came through. He got Teddy Two Gloves a huge payday, scaled it back for Taysom to let him still be a little instinctive, and had Jameis playing the best he had in the pros. Even made McCown look respectable and even had a JAG like Siemian looking at least competent. The point here should be that some teams have 2 or 3 QBs that can execute their offense successfully. They are drafting and developing non-1st round QBs and making it work.
The Saints haven’t drafted a functional QB in Sean Payton’s whole career. How? Why?
See, it's an odd thing that not all coaches are capable of. I've talked about it before, but I played exclusively stopper at a relatively high level in soccer. So when I started coaching, I just thought of what would scare the hell out of me as a defender. My team was running up 10-0/13-2 scores on other teams because of it. But it takes getting ego out of the equation. This is where DA needs to use his DC chops to see why our offense doesn’t work.
