Would sting but it is business. Can I say how truly messed up this would be if he stiffs us?
That probably has a lot to do with it, a player isn’t entitled to any pay while on the NFI list and would need to negotiate to either stay off the list or to be compensated while on the list. It’s pretty much a done deal he’s going to sign here. I thought it would happen soon after the comp pick deadline but I’m guessing the language with the non football injury clause may be holding it up.

If he signs a one year deal, he could also be locked into that same deal with the team in 2024 depending on when he recovers in 2023, so he has to worry about that as well.
I can see the arguments for him signing here, but he hasn’t made enough in his career to leave any significant dollar amount on the table to sign here instead. I think we will need to be close on the money if we want him here.
It would be considering he was about to sign with us before his physical. Can I say how truly messed up this would be if he stiffs us?
He had a physical with the Bengals before his physical with the Saints, at the very least they are probably still interested since they are thin at TE and they run a ton of 11 personnel (67% of plays). They also have their TE's run more routes than we do, if Moreau replaces Trautman he could end up in a similar role where he is blocking on 72% of snaps (Hayden Hurst blocked on 24% of snaps).Agents get paid a lot of money to get the most for their clients.
There could be even slight interest from another team, but it'll be exaggerated.
This is likely his last chance at a decent contract.
I'm almost positive we'll pass more this year than last. Plus Trautman may have had a half decent season if he caught the ball a little more and coaches had confidence in him. Moreau won't have a ton of yards here but could put up 8 - 10 TD type year.He had a physical with the Bengals before his physical with the Saints, at the very least they are probably still interested since they are thin at TE and they run a ton of 11 personnel (67% of plays).
