The NFL requires team publish their official Depth Chart. This week, the Saints updated their official QB Depth Chart to the following:

QB1 - Drew Brees
QB2 - Jameis Winston
QB3 - Taysom Hill

I, for one, am Not Mad!!!

Sean Payton with young and fresh 5,109-yard arm... Lawd Have Mercy!! Focusing on getting Winston's arm strength integrated in Payton's Personnel Grouping... this will be Epic!! Payton can put DHarris on the outside and Winston can reach him 50 yards down the field. Payton can put 2-TE, Cook-Trautman, in a formation with RB41 or Murray and attack defenses with screens and seam routes all day. Unless you roll with the Black and Gold, This WILL NOT BE PRETTY!!!

During the record-setting yardage years, Drew Brees would take shots and engineer 1-minute drives. Back in those old days, the Saints DL would tire, DBs would struggle and the defense would give up tons of passing yardage. The yester-year Saints were an offensive juggernaut but the defense could not keep up. These Saints are different. This Saints team has a DL that is 8 studs deep. Let them eat!!

For those that know, like me, winning football includes controlling the Time Of Possession. I hear you. Winston can dink and dunk or take the shots down with field. In the last game, the 49ers had knocked Brees out of the game and were down one score. The 9ers coaches were probably feeling pretty good when Winston came in the game cold off the bench. But the wind went out of their sails when Winston extended the lead by 10 points.

In the Super Bowl Campaign, Brees fought off competing offenses with his deep shots and the defense had Darren Sharper. Sharper lead a defensive backfield that killed drives with interceptions and won the Super Bowl with a Pick6. Part of that group was Malcom Jenkins. Jenkins now leads a talented group of DBs who could gel at just the right time. Fans comment about the Winston turnovers but any fan of the NFC-South have seen starting QBs turn the ball over -- it's practically par for the course. In fact, I expect Matt Ryan to be a generous contributor to the Saints Turnover Total this weekend. It's Par For the Course!!

I digress... but Winston's arm and Jenkins DBs are exactly the way the Saints should attack the ATL Falcons. The Falcons have nothing to lose and a HC with something to prove. Winston has practiced against the Falcon defense with Morris was HC at Tampa. I believe Winston can out duel Ryan in his Mercedes Dome or ours.

Eat, Drink and Be Merry Sports Fans. The run for the NFC #1 Seed starts this weekend and you don't want to miss it!!

GO Saints!!

Let's keep everything in proper perspective. The Saints have looked good about half of the time this season. There have looked like they were going to lose at some point in just about every game. Yes, we were happy at the end of all but two...but we have to keep things into proper perspective. Anyone expecting Winston to go out there and rip apart a division rival like the Falcons, are setting themselves up for disappointment. It would be difficult for even Brees to do that. I suspect that either it was Brees, Winston, or Hill...it's going to be a nasty game and there will be at least one moment of significant apprehension.

MVP.. I'm pumped!!

I want to get Brees a rest and have him ready for the playoffs. Winston can handle 3-4 games and that can set the stage for the team up for the Post Season.

The Falcons are no joke. They could easily be a 6-win team. And we need to beat them twice in three weeks. The schedule is what it is. And we need the wins.

GO Saints!!

we have a couple of guys that can stretch the field. A couple of welled timed long balls will help loosen up all the stuff we like to do underneath. And who knows, maybe they complete or draw a flag. You don't need to try it many times to keep them honest.

Taysom Hill plays a very physical form of QB. He doesn't run out of bounds and he will run over LBs and DBs and DLmen. Buddy, how long do you think defenses will be disrespected like that?

Defenders, making career decisions, will target Taysom's legs and knees. And some player will eventually give the Saints Swiss Army Knife a limp. Then the Saints will be down two QBs.

Do you really want to chance that?

GO Saints!!

That's exactly what I would do if I were the Saints... and I wanted the Falcons to think Winston was the #2....

The Debbie Downers will not like this post! But it got me pumped. I'm ready. SP is going to let Winston loose! I'll be shocked if he doesn't have at least 200 yards passing.

It does help to feel confident if you look at Winstons career stats vs the Falcons. He likes shredding them, now does it guarantee a victory - absolutely not, BUT it's a legit indictator

I usually go by what's on the teams official site...

Edit: Found the rule:

DEPTH CHARTS – Every team must produce a credible weekly depth chart for the media beginning no later than the week of its first preseason game and updated weekly through the end of its season. The depth chart must include the 11 offensive positions and the 11 defensive positions a team considers to be in its base units, and it must list expected starters and backups at each of those positions. Listing players at each position on the depth chart in alphabetical order is prohibited.
