So NO one is surprised that Washington and Keith Kirkwood are running ahead of Edwards??? I don't believe any of you, LOL.

Keith Kirkwood has experience with the team, knows the offense, been in the system for a bit, and can play multiple positions like TQS. It shouldn't be a surprise players who have experience and tenure here are ahead of the new guys especially early on.

James Washington is a talented receiver. 2nd round pick with skins on the wall. He has just as much of a shot as anyone fighting for that last two spot at the position on the roster.

They could have put "or Taysom Hill" next to nearly every skill position #1 on the entire depth chart and it would have been appropriate.

That would have been awesome if they had put it after every position

I remember how much hype there was for Edwards after we signed him, and he’s several spots behind the player he was assumed to be a replacement for (TQS). When we signed Washington, I said Edwards should be more worried about it than TQS, so far the unofficial depth chart is shaping up that way.

Not a fan, if he makes the team I’ll root for him but I wasn’t at all excited about the player.

Can’t remember who but someone here was excited about us signing Jerron Cage as an UDFA but I don’t even see him anywhere on the depth chart.

Cage is listed as a 4th string DT behind Emili. He’s on the full depth chart pic in the third attachment in the OP.

He’s got a tough hill to climb to make the roster. 4th DT is Roach’s to lose. Thinking we carry 5 DEs and 4 DTs.

Trequan’s blocking is apparently excellent. And he knows every single WR position. All that counts for something.

The first 3 units listed looks like the projected roster, minus some backup OL, FB, DL, LBs, and DBs cut to bring it down to 53. We’ll have a 4th RB but don’t know who it is yet.

Jordan Howden’s the only listed 4th string who’s most likely make the team IMO, for ST and DB depth.
AT Perry should stand out more than one of Kirkwood or Washington in preseason games. But they have as much chance to make the 53 as Perry.

Although our safety spots are interchangeable without having a single high safety. Who plays more of a free safety role when in more of a base defense? Matthieu or Maye??

If someone could break it down more in depth I’d appreciate it as I’m not as savvy with those type of details and complexities with a defense. Thanks!

He also goes across the middle. When WR2 and WR3 aren't built for going across the middle a guy who does gets noticed.

I think its because Mathieu near the line alot and I think their almost interchangeable. I think Allen likes his safeties in alot of positions remember the first year it felt like Marcus Williams struggled then Malcom Jenkins always just seemed at the line later that season

No, you've had it right. I believe it's just a office mess up. Maye is definitely been lining up at FS and Mathieau at SS. They do switch it up during games a lot though, to throw defenses off.
