Saints Rush Hour: Success & Winning in the Rushing Attack (1 Viewer)

A thought popped up in my head about the running game and why Payton hates to stick with it. You can ask a math whiz to do basic math, but they will do it only for a little while. Eventually boredom sets in and that math whiz will want to gravitate towards complex calculas problems again.

OK, what am I missing:

" On Monday night, Kamara (at 49 games) can set the 50 career game touchdown mark for a running back. He can surpass Hall of Famers Marcus Allen (16), Steve Van Buren (16) and tie or pass Larry Johnson (18) with two of more touchdowns. "

Just before that, " In 40 career games, [Kamara] has 5,033 scrimmage yards and 44 touchdowns. "

What are the numbers in parenthesis and just what is the record for 50 career games? And how many TD's does Kamara have already going into the MNF game?

ETA: According to this https://www.nfl.com/players/alvin-kamara/stats/career , AK now has 45 TDs including 7 TD's this season (Total of 49 games played). Which doesn't jive with the above of 44 TD's after 40 games. NOTE: One of AK's TD's was a KO return in 2017, so maybe they are not counting that, but... the numbers in the article still don't jive.

ETA2: the 5,033 scrimmage yards mentioned above are after 49 games! Soo, the "40 career games" mentioned above must be a typo and should read "49 games."

Thus... the 50 game record would be 45 touchdowns from scrimmage.

Whew!

AK41 has 44 total TDs so far in his career, in only 49 games

Which is what I finally stated. (In the article they had stated 40 games, not 49 games.)

Sooo... what are the numbers in parenthesis after those other players listed?
It’s an error on the author’s part. He probably meant to write 49 bc he posted AK’s scrimmage yards total for 49 games, not 40.
He forgot to proofread or have someone edit it for him. Which is pretty common these days

To me it seems simple. Drew throws the ball 50 times we lose. Successful running game sets everything else up for Drew. The more things change the more they stay the same. Football is still a pretty simple game. Run the ball and stop the run and you will win more than you lose. When our O-line is clicking we are close to unbeatable. This may be the best 2 back tandem we have had. We all know how good Kamara is but Marray, he is kicking arse this year and I would like to see him get it a little more. When the running game is clicking, Drew becomes a very dangerous man!

Lol, if I had to guess, those are the number of multi-TD games for those players. I’m not sure bc it doesn’t make any sense the way it’s written. It would be impossible to surpass players at 16 games (which would give AK 17 games of multi-TDs), but not surpass a player that has 18 in that one game. It’s just a turrable piece of writing.

Chicken and the egg... are we winning because we are running, or are we running because we are winning?

Neither, we are running because even SP can't ignore that our offensive line is overwhelming opposing dlines. When LM and AK go 2-3 yards before first contact that is going to wear a defense down....fast....
