Saints sign Safety Justin Reid to a 3-year, $31.5 million deal (53 Viewers)

We are trying our absolute hardest to select right in the middle of next years draft..

I get it, no coaches want to suck at their new job, but im not getting the rebuild vibes at all.. and if theres ever been a team that desperately needs a rebuild.. well
I agree with this completely. Was really hoping to go young and fast with lots of draft picks after trading down. Seem to be getting even older.

How is adding a very good 28 year-old starting Safety that is a perfect fit for the new scheme not rebuilding the team?

Well they can actually be decent if they fix the defense and get a workhorse rb (jeanty) control there clock play physical

Probably, but my understanding is that Safeties in Staley's scheme are interchangeable. They will both alternate rotating down in run defense pre-snap and they will both alternate covering over the top. Which is why Reid is a perfect fit. He's great in coverage and against the run. I think both Safety spots are very important for Staley's scheme because they are counted on both to provide coverage over the top and to add the 7th guy in the box late for run support.

Reid is a perfect fit, but I would think they still add a young Safety in the draft to compete with Tyrann.
Tyrann needs to be coaching up a replacement at this point I know he hates to tackle atp

Don't lie. You are always that guy and you love it.
lol just a lil bit but fr somebody gotta do it I wasn’t on the board when we got Byrd but I remember being hyped up about it and thinking how many plays he was going to make because he was so dominant in buffalo and he etched his name is stone as our worst fa signing ever

I don't get why everyone gets so hyped up about comp picks. Best you can get is a 3rd, and that's tough to get. Reid, if plays like he has, is better than any 4th or later pick. In my opinion, it is like a soft rebuild. Not too expensive contracts and some will fall off in the next year or 2. You realize if Young gets to 8 to 10 sacks per year, that will be a steal. We let Turner go, where in years past we would've picked up that option to not waste a 1. We aren't really getting older. Good solid signings

The rebuild is coming on offense through the draft. Getting solid, not old players on D. Im kind of liking the direction we are going.

Sort of surprised.... I figured we target a Vet Safety.... Very difficult to start a rookie there unless he's an absolute stud... This is a very good signing... He's a above average in all aspects of his game, good leader, at a good price, and at the right age.

Yeah, didn't see that coming... good stuff.

Greatness. Landed a guy from a winning team. Got him at his AAV, not above. Lifted spirits.

So, thank you to the restructuring players for making this happen, especially Derek. Mickey was very cool to sweeten up all of your restructured deals, except Honey Badger, who went above and beyond, donating money back to the team.
