Lawrie, who missed last Sunday's game, might not be ready to return. The Saints signed fourth-year tight end John Owens to add depth at the position. Owens has appeared in 24 games, only two since 2003, while bouncing around the league.
To make room for Owens, the Saints released defensive end Eric Moore. Veteran defensive lineman Willie Whitehead will move from tackle to end to replace Moore.
