Saints sign vet Center Connor McGovern off Jets practice squad (started 86 of last 87 games) (2 Viewers)

With offensive linemen dropping on so many teams, this looks to be a pretty good find.

Yeah, surprising this guy is available. Apparently a dislocated knee cap put him on IR last year while he was the Jets starting Center. He apparently did not return until September when the Jets signed him to their practice squad which is why he was available. But, it's still surprising that a 9 year vet with that has essentially been a starter his entire career was sitting on the Jets practice squad for a month.

McGovern was with the Jets for the last 4 seasons.
He signed 3 year/27M deal with them in 2020, a 1 year deal in 2023, then signed to their practice squad in 2024. His age and brief time on IR had him available in FA for the practice squad this year.
What did it cost us to sign him to the active roster?

I'm interested because of us trying to get D. Adams.

i wonder if Mcgovern was just placed on the Jets practice squad and we nabbed him? or was he on the practice squad all year?

I posted the below on Sept 24th, so, he's been on the practice squad for at least a couple of weeks.

Interesting interior OL with starting experience that are on other teams practice squads...

Bills - C/G Will Clapp
Broncos - G Calvin Throckmorton
Chargers - C Sam Mustipher
Giants - G Cade Mays
Jets - C Connor McGovern
Texans - C Scott Quessenberry
Titans - C Corey Levin

Those are just names that I recognize.

Ah! Makes sense.
