Saints sign WR/RB/KR Velus Jones Jr. (103 Viewers)

This team probably got .3 better in FA. At this point, all Mickey is telling me is that they truly do think the '24 season was a fluke and are heavily banking on a new coaching staff to get more out of what they mostly have already. Even with Reid as an upgrade over Harris, you're mostly running this back with underperforming players on a defense that was mostly healthy last year.

It's quite obvious some of y'all only look at stat sheets and headlines.

He had ZERO fumbles in college across 62 games and 6 seasons, though he only played 5 seasons and redshirtted his freshman season at USC.

His fumbles came bunched together at PR in 2022 when he had 3. It was like a cade of the yips.

No fumbles in 2023.

1 in 2024.

He's a weapon, who can play KR, RB and WR with unteachable speed.

Here's Baldy breaking him down as a RB

Low risk high reward signing

Low risk high reward signing

Exactly. We have seen that KR is part of the game again. It makes sense to go get a guy who can take it to the house at anytime on KR. He's also a bigger/sturdy guy so that helps with durability. IIRC, he doesn't didn't have an evolved route tree, but this dude can play a the Z and take a top off a defense.

I like the signing! Low risk high reward. Are we gonna use in as a RB a WR or a KR/PR?

Qb and rb not addressed in fa, could one of these be our pick at 9?

They have given CEH a one year deal and Jones may be a RB so I don't think it's true that we haven't addressed RB. I would like to add a young RB for the future, but we actually have some pretty good depth right now with Kamara, CEH, Mims, Miller, and maybe Jones. Hopefully we add a talented young RB at some point, but I would not call it a need or a must.

Baldinger’s video is very interesting. Highlights can be deceiving, but they can also be intriguing.

Yeah, he looked good in that video. But then I have to ask what did he do for the rest of the year and why did the Bears let him go? But, he's certainly worth a shot on a low priced deal because you can't teach that speed and quickness.

I do wonder if they see him as a "weapon" that can move around to various positions of if they see him in a specific position while also being a WR/KR. I don't really recall Moore really using a "Joker" type player anyplace that he has been. But I don't know if that's by choice or if he just never really had that kind of player. I could see Jones being a Corredale Patterson type who took awhile to find the right fit before finally making an impact in Atlanta. He's never been a "great" player, but he's a good guy to have on a team to make plays here and there. Although Patterson is a bit bigger and had more production early in his career.
