Update Saints to interview Mike McCarthy in middle of this week, 1/26-2/1 per Pelissero [Underhill: McCarthy would have to be the current favorite] (38 Viewers)

Really strange, isn’t it? It’s like they’re intentionally holding off on it or something. So odd.
When McCarthy first became available, there was that little blip of a story that the Saints were slowing down the process with McCarthy out of some concern that Loomis has a son that works for the Cowboys.

There have been times when a team has decided to hire a coach, but are coy about it until they satisfy the Rooney Rule.

I hope this isn't a situation were the Saints did something with McCarthy that could be considered tampering, so they're playing coy like they aren't even that interested in McCarthy.

Yep. There have been hints since early January.

Take it for what it’s worth but I had a conversation with someone earlier that word is McCarthy is thinking about sitting out the hiring process this year. Bad look for the Saints might be getting worse.
Yesterday or the day before, another poster who's had inside information before said that he heard that McCarthy and his team were lobbying the Saints hard for the job.

If one is not talking directly the decision makers on the hiring committee, then one doesn't have very reliable information about what is going on. Things get miscommunicated and misinterpreted. Just like the telephone game shows, the more links of people there are in the information change, the more unreliable the information is.

I have to give some credit to McCarthy for Rodgers' success, but in natural ability, Rodgers is one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL. More natural ability than Brees, Peyton, and Brady.

I find it strange that an interview with McCarthy has not been definitely scheduled. It suggests that the interest of one or both of the parties is less than we believe. If McCarthy is really serious about the job and if the Saints are seriously considering him, you would think he would have interviewed by this time and certainly would be flying in on Monday. It may simply be that McCarthy wants a year off rather than rushing into any job in 2025. He did take a year off after he left Green Bay.

If McCarthy is not really interested and given Brady's announcement that he will not be interviewing, then it is time for the Saints to decide whether the new coach will be Weaver, Rizzi, or Kalka. The Rooney Rule has been satisfied. The three listed have had their in-person interviews (assuming Kafka did come in today). The team has had enough time to do its due diligence. It's time to make a decision.

Why would anyone want McCarthy? Wasted AR career and had a Cowboy team with way more talent than we have and did nothing. Can someone tell me a positive with this guy?
some outside of the Saints could say SP wasted Drews career. Drew should have had three SBs.
(i don't agree with that statement but that's basically how you sound)

WTF does anything that Ensminger say have to do with anything here.....

Where is he now? I can tell you where he isn't, he isn't the OC of a team one game away from the SB.....

And you continue to totally miss/ignore why a team with one of the top young QB's in the NFL pursued Brady in the 1st place....

Total clown post above, shouldn't have expected anything different.....
Well maybe because Ensminger WAS the OC and the guy IN CHARGE of the offense!!!! Ensminger is retired from coaching to be an analyst, it was his choice.
Riddle me this Batman, what do Dabol , Dorsey and Brady all have in common?
Dabol got a HC gig because of JOSH ALLEN, Dorsey was getting HC interviews because of JOSH ALLEN. Brady get's HC interviews because of JOSH ALLEN. Must be something going on in Buffalo

Brady isn't getting HC interviews because of his time in Carolina, that's for sure..
But having the likes of Burrow and Allen to draw up plays for definitely helps.. lol.
But i have no problem with giving Brady a shot.. he could be the next big thing . or the next big flop .. we'll see

I need to see Brady take a offense and a QB that's NOT elite to begin with and make them great. I also don't hear that Brady is a leader of men guy. He's been an OC a total of 3 yrs and half of them were not good. He's been a coach a total of 8 yrs. Only 3 in the NFL. Does he even have the connections to put together a good staff? Maybe in a couple yrs he'll be ready

I don't know what to think anymore. I'm all for being thorough, speaking to all viable candidates, dotting I's and crossing T's.

But here we are...we had an 8 week head start on everyone but the Jets. And somehow everyone else performed their due diligence, got the guy they wanted (or at least say they did), and we STILL don't know who we favor, let alone who we want? And now we have supposed favorites withdrawing from consideration? Is ML really that much smarter than the rest of the room? Or is he one of the reasons it's taking longer than every other team to fill a HC vacancy?

Something smells funny to me, but I don't know what it is...

You're anti-Brady bias has no bounds, you have never acknowledged why a team may have wanted said Brady to work with their easily top 2-3 QB in the NFL.....perhaps Brady was their only option, the only young promising OC willing to work with the likes of JOSH ALLEN, yup, he's all they could get.....LMAO at the clown post above....

What's going on in Buffalo is they are 1 game away from their first SB appearance in over 30 years and whether you recognize it or not, Brady is a big reason for that.....

"(Mike McCarthy) is potentially a really good fit for a Saints team that is very much built to win RIGHT NOW."

The haters won't like that.

You do realize that's a very subjective take, right? Additionally, having the opinion that this roster isn't built to compete doesn't make one a hater.

The blind eye who isn't paying much attention sees some bigger name vets (Demario, Cam, Mathieu) on the defensive side with a vet QB and big name HB and think that we're still poised to make noise.

The reality of the situation is that those big name vets are all liabilities on the field and are costing this team lots of money, and we have very few young stars. I'd love for that not to be the case. It'd be awesome if Demario, Cam, and Mathieu were still good players and giving good return on their contracts. It'd be sweet if we had more young building blocks on either side of the ball. It'd be nice if we had an attractive quarterback situation.
