Saints top 2 receivers were both 7th round picks (2 Viewers)

I loved both Eric and Marques, but I’d have to have Joe up there too.
I was talking about receiving yards as far as top receivers. As far as 'favorite' receivers I would still go with Colston and Martin as for now. Joe was very productive but was too much of a "me" player for my tastes. I also hated how he constantly gave other teams bulletin board material right before a big match-up.

Ahhh, I see.
Joe was flamboyant and a tad narcissistic. Lol

So you're saying we need to start using every 7th round pick we have on WR's? I like that strategy.

I think he means top 2 in receiving yards:

Overall Payton has done well drafting receivers (will be interesting to see if that trend continues without Brees tossing the ball.) Anyway, just for fun here are some notable receivers under Payton's tenure and how they were obtained:

The 'Hits'
Brandin Cooks - 1st round
Robert Meachem - 1st round
Michael Thomas - 2nd round
Kenny Stills - 5th round
Marques Colston - 7th round
Willie Snead - UDFA
Deonte Harris - UDFA

Jury Still Out
Tre'Quan Smith - 3rd round
Kawaan Baker - 7th round
Marquez Callaway - UDFA
Juwan Johnson - UDFA
L'il Jordan Humphrey - UDFA

The 'Almosts'
Brandon Coleman - UDFA

The 'Misses'
Nick Toon - 4th round
Mike Haas - 6th round
Adrian Arrington - 7th round
Keith Kirkwood - UDFA
Joe Morgan - UDFA
Austin Carr - UDFA
Tommy Lee Lewis - UDFA
Terrance Copper - UDFA

A really nice find, Marques is my all time favourite Saint, I never got to see Martin as he was a little before my time.
Martin was a grinder and like Colston just went about his business without a lot of fanfare. Not overly fast but would catch anything thrown to him and he made his money over the middle. He was a bright spot on some pretty bleak offenses.

Payton didn't draft Devery and Lance Moore was here in 2005 as well so he inherited those two.
