Saints trade for quarterback Teddy Bridgewater (1 Viewer)

The New Orleans Saints made a stunning move Wednesday (Aug. 29), acquiring quarterback Teddy Bridgewater in a trade from the New York Jets.

With the move, the Saints add an experienced, high-ceiling quarterback to backup Drew Brees, and if the team can sign Bridgewater beyond this season, he could be in line to become Brees' eventual successor.

"We are very pleased to obtain a young player with quite a bit of playing experience," Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis said in a statement.

According to ESPN, the full terms of the the deal have the Saints sending a third-round pick to the Jets for Bridgewater and a sixth-round pick. Assuming it's next year's third-rounder, the Saints will have just one pick on the first two days of next year's draft because they already sent their 2019 first-round pick to the Green Bay Packers this year to draft defensive end Marcus Davenport. ...
