I'm beginning to worry about Ellerbe. Maybe today he was not so blessed or he is sleeping really late.

It sounds like a veteran minimum deal. There is a little known cap rule called "Veteran Minimum Benefit " that reduces the cap hit to that of a second year minimum (525k) instead of the players actual minimum.
