Sean has to play nice with the refs and Goodell until we get another ring. Can he do it?

not surprised. since falcons were complaining about the saints holding "every defensive play" last week. so they probably told the refs and then they called penalties on defense. at least they still lost.

I said as much on that thread and elsewhere. That was a calculated move by Morris and Koetter.

Most coaches will simply allow their best to try and beat our best and hope the officials call EGREGIOUS acts of PI.

That wasnt the case yesterday for 2-3 calls. ( one reversed after a huddle which i applauded since there was barely any contact )

If the officials are still begrudging our claims post Rams game, thats on them. Just note, the NFL world is watching.

meh thats an opinion piece written by a Saints fan. While i agree with the disparity, i think most of the calls yesterday ( in particular ) save 2 calls, were legit calls.
My problem is not that the calls were legit, it's that they are NOT calling legit penalties on the other teams. Like, if people got speeding tickets, and they were legit speeding but you find out that the cops were ONLY writing speeding tickets to Korean women, then you'd have to say, that's out of bounds. It's a crazy example but if you are only holding one group accountable and letting the exact same actions of other groups go, that's just wrong and seems like the definition of unfair bias.

Take yesterday's game for example. You mean to tell me that the Falcons committed only ONE penalty yesterday, while the Saints committed ELEVEN? That seems ridiculously one-sided.

I agree with that. But you can’t say that Atlanta’s O’line or DBs played a perfect game? That’s the most annoying part.

What if it's because the cops were more likely to notice the Korean women because they were hot?

On one particular play a Saints Defensive Lineman was not only held, but tackled. It was plain as day. It is ok to call REAL penalties on us, but how about on them? I hope the 11-1 trend does not continue, because we don't play the Falcons every week.

This seems like a great place to drop this....

While looking at Offense Holding only; the Saints have a whopping 171 plays beyond the LOS (sacks, TFL, and QB Hits) while getting the "benefit" of eight (8) penalties for holding ((of which only 5 were accepted)). That's 21.4 backfield plays per penalty.

The Saints have allowed 117 plays in the backfield but received nineteen (19) holding penalties ((of which 14 were accepted)). That's a penalty rate of 6.2 backfield plays per penalty.

If you go with just the "accepted" Offense Holding Penalties the rate becomes.... 34.2 -to- 8.4

Still a stunning difference when comparing apples-to-apples; same game, same field conditions, same officials.

Still even more stunning'er; the Saints executed forty-two (42) plays in the Etlanta backfield and benefitted from zero (0) offensive holding penalties. The Failcon's O-Line played a statically perfect game(s) against our hyper-aggressive defenders flooding through their LOS.

In a pig's eye....

It's not a love-hate relationship. It's more of a hate-hate relationship. I would be happy if the officials just stop making completely incompent calls that cost us games. It is totally embarassing for the league but it has stolen at least one super bowl appearance from the Saints.

Coach refuses to bow down to the league elites. I like that but at the same time they do ultimately control the game.

Yep. One...only one...one penalty against the Falcons. That was the roughing the QB for the low hit. Their offensive line didn't hold once. Their secondary played a clean game.

Many of the penalties against us kept drives alive. We were still good enough to beat them and our own self-inflicted mistakes. But barely.

On the other side, I agree with many at the overturned DPI and incomplete pass changed to fumble were a surprising relief. The catch by Ridley that was reviewed should have been an incomplete pass, but that so close it was understandable.
