Seahawks hired Saints OC Klint Kubiak as their new Offensive Coordinator (1 Viewer)

I am beginning to align with those who want to just burn it down next year, get our cap issues resolved no matter how bad a team we end up having to put out there. New coach would have to come in with that being the plan.

Problem is there is no way that you can just tear it down and fix the cap in one year. It's going to take two years no matter what you might want to do. This year you either have to convert a bunch of Carr's salary to bonuses or you have to do the same with a bunch of older vets along with possibly getting pay cuts to get under the cap. And we don't really have any tradeable assets that we can afford to trade. That's also going to apply to 2026 to some extent, but we should be well under the cap in 2027.

Personally, I want to move on from Carr to see what Rattler has so we know if we need to draft another QB in 2026, but even that move would not allow a total tear down. And you will pretty much so be at that point in 2026 when the contract of all the older players expire. So it's going to naturally happen.

They just have to start drafting better and stop trading picks to move up and you get a natural reset by 2027.

Maybe, but with DA, until this season the saints were .500. This season the wheels came off. Was it coaching, injuries, talent, or something else. But if the Bears and the Seahawks have good seasons next year we can probably assume coaching wasn't the problem

Head Coach, along with injuries, was the problem so the Bears or the Seahawks doing well really won't show anything.

There is a lot of talk about Kubiak's in-game adjustments or halftime adjustments and I don't think that part is quite fair. You aren't going to install a new game plan during the game. Nobody does that. You ride with the game plan you install during the week and you maybe favor some plays over others, but not change the plays during the game.

My biggest criticism of him came from two things. Not effectively changing the game plans that were being installed during the week to account for the change in available personnel. I didn't see a lot of creativity there. And not being a particularly good play caller after the scripted plays ran out. Most of the time he was pretty predictable and he didn't seem to find a groove when it came to using what was working and using those plays to open up others. At times it seemed like me on Madden which is just picking a play willy nilly. Not great.
