The New Orleans Saints underwent some profound change at the wide receiver position in the 2018 offseason, signing slot presence Cameron Meredith away from the Chicago Bears, letting Willie Snead go free to the Baltimore Ravens, and re-signing trusted reserve option Brandon Coleman.
Head coach Sean Payton says the retention of Coleman and the departure of Snead were not related, and that he expected that the organization would keep Coleman for what will be his fifth NFL season.
“It was part of the plan,” Payton said this offseason of Coleman’s signing. “I spoke to him [a week before he was signed]. He’s definitely someone that’s been important for us and will be important going into the season.”
