When it comes to the blame game

ML !!

If for nothing else, choosing and sticking with DA/PC, the eternal salary cap nightmare, his role in the David Carr signing and whatever role he ( and of course the coaching and scouting staff) has had in drafting average O line players in the very early draft rounds.

And yes...for making totally stupid comments like " we have a 17 yr history blah blah blah" this past weekend

Oh, he's gotten some flak. His tower is getting ivory-er and ivory-er.

I think Mickey is a good GM. He gave a good DC a chance. I think they were kinda stuck in the Payton situation. I think Mickey will right the wrongs soon.
We shall see at the end of this year.

They are going to blame ML until he replaces the coaches and then pretend that ML did it because of their complaining and that ML finally "wised up" when everything is about timing but people are so emotional on SR.com that factor escapes them.

I remember in a WWL interview earlier in the season during the good start. I think maybe after the first game. Mickey said he wasn't sold on the player (Carr) when we signed him.

At the time he was kind of saying it looked like he was wrong about Carr. But in the long run it looks like maybe he was right. I think the Carr signing is more a product of allowing the coach to pick his QB. DA drafted him. DA wanted him here. At least we didn't trade any picks for him and we can get out of the deal in a year.

Wait. What? Lol if you aren't sold on a player then why are you signing him? Good god man, you're the GM. I can understand giving in when Lil Sean pitched a fit to get what he wants, but Dennis Allen? If DA is pitching a fit you just send him to timeout.

The whole arrangement is just too cozy. Everybody is friends and nobody wants any static. No accountability. Just a bunch of pals trying to run a football team.

It’s clear he messed up big hiring DA. He could fire him Monday under the guise of making the team better by subtraction and have full support of the fanbase. In reality, firing the HC in season rarely actually makes the team better, but it likely would help get a higher draft pick which makes the job more attractive in January.

That he’s friends with the people that he is supposed to hold accountable is the biggest problem and why has hasn’t fixed this mistake.

Part of me wants to believe ML knew we’d be garbage for 2-3 years. He knew we’d get impatient, so he chose DA and PC to be the scapegoats while we managed the cap “back to the middle.” The DC deal was a wing on a prayer. He might be good enough to have us relevant, but probably not. and in that event, we could get out of his deal within 2 years. With the cap back to normal, the job is more attractive for caching candidates and the fans will be happy to see the PC, DA, and DC leave.

I think it's very common to let the coach pick the QB these days. When a QB is forced on a coach, that's when there are problems. I think that's what happened with Trey Lance. I think that's what happened with Frank Reich. I think that happened with DA and Jameis last year honestly.

It's a conflict of interest if you ask me. I understand everyone knows the business, etc, but you can't be friends with people you hire and fire. If you are truly looking out for the best interest of the team, then you can't be friends with folks to the extent that ML, DA, SP all were.

I heard that the more threads people start about a particular person, the more likely that person will get fired. Right?

Agreed, it's called leadership for a reason...not likership.

If Mrs. Benson wants a championship, she's gonna do the hard thing and dismiss PC and DA. Reassign ML and promote Ireland and Hartly.
