Selling Playoff Tickets--A Proposal (2 Viewers)

Slightly off topic but kinda the same. Does season ticket holders get Super Bowl tickets if their team makes it to the big dance?
yes but depends who. some teams have a drawing that favors longer ticket holders and some go to high priced seat holders

I don’t understand the worry about what people do with their tickets.
I get it if the tickets are strictly held by brokers. I think they should lose their tickets.
However
Saints fans can buy any available ticket on the secondary as well as visiting fans. Don’t want visitors in the seats then fill them with saints fans.

I propose that if anyone wants to buy verified season ticket holders playoff tickets and they are too high then they should have to buy two preseason tickets at cost before purchasing any playoff tickets.

Appears that some Saints fans have ZERO respect for other people's private property.

I don't agree with most of this, but I will say, I know the Eagles require season ticket holders to buy their playoff tickets, and if you don't you lose your tickets. It's not a huge deal, if you have credit, as generally, you can always sell playoff tickets for face value.

Also I have season tickets that I like but my son who is stationed at Bragg is coming in for the game with me. I want to make the NFC Championship game really special for him so I went to Ticketmaster right after Sunday game and bought seats closer to the field. I then sold mine to some friends but the point is that it is great to have that option to buy others if I want.

Why does everyone want to be a ticket Nazi? Every year I go to away games when I can. If fans didn’t resell their tickets I might not have that opportunity. It’s football. There are two teams playing. Fans from both sides want to go and support their team. I don’t want to see it any other way.
before they stop people from selling their seats they will try and regulate the price. not many would sell if they could only get what they are worth

I am more likely to agree with a bonafide broker that hasn’t used the seats in X number of years having their seats revoked.

I am not keen on the idea of taking my seats because I sold a game or two online for profit.

For the record I made 2 home and 2 away games this regular season. I sold all of my tickets to my friends for a bit less than market value. I lost $400 on preseason tickets that could not be sold or used.

So if this were the case for every NFL team, then I most likely wouldn’t have been able to buy endzone front row seats last season in Minnesota to see my team at an away playoff game. This rule would be a double edged sword. No thanks.
My bigger concern are those that buy season tickets only with the intent of selling them (and not using them to attend games). There are two on my row that are sold EVERY game (and mostly to visiting fans). Just a pet peeve.

Actually guys I believe it is only if we host a Super Bowl that this raffle takes place. I actually was selected for this back in the 80s.

There’s a season ticket holder raffle if we’re in the super bowl. I remember being in it in 2009.

Like one of the other posters already said, it's amazing how people get so bent out of shape about season ticket holders selling tickets above face value when the team is good, but when season ticket holders need to sell tickets during some of the down seasons well below face value, everyone is happy (or just not looking to buy tickets at that time).

On a separate note, you're kidding yourself if you think the NFL will get behind any of this. You realize on nflticketexchange (which they promote heavily) they are the ones getting paid off the fees that are charged. I'm sure they want ticket prices to be as high as possible to increase the their profits, after they have already made a killing off of the people who originally purchased the season tickets!

You buy tickets at the discretion of the organization. I don't believe that you have a legal right to buy season tickets, or a legal right not to have the team change the conditions in the future for the purchase of season tickets. I have respect for private property. Nobody is stopping anyone from selling tickets they have purchased, subject to any laws on scalping tickets. My proposal goes to the team's right to sell tickets in the future.

And I am aware of Ticket Exchange, and I do realize that except for a few organizations, the NFL doesn't care.

I understand your feeling. I guess I just remember the days when games were blacked out on tv because the Dome was not sold out. Right now as fans we are in feast mode but there could come a day when there is famine and a lot of fans posting on here complaining of tickets being resold wouldn’t even buy a ticket for face value if we have a team that consistently has losing seasons.

If I want to resell my ticket to for profit to joe blow then I shouldn’t be called out as a greedy season ticket holder. I spend a lot of money on my team, tickets, merchandise, road games, and this year a SB ticket. I just feel that season ticket holders should be able to do as they feel with their ticket. Just my opinion and I’m aware it’s worth little to nothing :)

They should get weeded out when we hit bad years. The question is will the real fans step up, purchase, and maintain the tickets through the bad years? Pre-Katrina we had entire sections of opposing fans.

I live in a high profile college football town and if season ticket holders don’t use there tickets they are at risk of losing them. Selling on the secondary market counts against them selling privetly does not. Possible idea for pro teams to think about.

These threads come up every time the Saints advance deep into the playoffs. Believe me: when I got season tickets for the first time back in 2004, reselling playoff tickets for a profit was the last thing on my mind.
