Should Keith Kirkwood return to the practice squad after his performance yesterday? (2 Viewers)

The defender made a good play on the first pass, the wind got ahold of the 2nd pass. I'm not trying to diss anyone, but why are you throwing to a practice squad guy in 2 straight 3rd down situations?

Kirkwood had two catch-able balls against the Browns one hit him in the head. Did he just have a bad day, or should the team look elsewhere for another Receiver?
Not that I dislike Kirkwood, but we should not need him.

Gotta be careful about any player having a bad game performance. Coaches watch practice performances, and he may be absolutely killing it in practice. Pretty sure that sometimes keeps players on the roster that we may think is trash.

But we shouldn't need Kirkwood.

Let's not bury the lead here. Why is Kirkwood even in the game??? Good question, I will chime in: Saints are still lacking playmakers. The DA anti's blame it all on coaching but for the 2nd straight season this team is short of enough NFL caliber offensive playmakers. Need another reliable RB and a couple WRs, still.

Because the QB thought he was the best option on the play.

I remember back in 2019the writers were enamored by Kirkwood during M.T hold out. This and after this training camp I'm beginning to wonder if the writers are paid to make the Saints look good rather than being objective.

I'll give Kirkwood Kudos for keeping on trying and somehow still cracking rosters.
I think people view some of our comments as hating Kirkwood. I don't hate him. I'll always give him props for making a crucial 4th down TD catch in the 1st half vs. PHI in the 2018 divisional round.

But even though I admired Austin Carr's persistence in continuing to fight for roster spots, I wouldn't have wanted the most important offensive play of any game to be a deep ball into a stiff wind to Austin Carr, either. Same applies to Kirkwood on Christmas Eve even if I'm willing to give him props for still fighting for a roster spot and for his contribution to a Saints' playoff victory.

It's not like they didn't try to fill the receivers corps. The RB thing really makes me mad though. And we had the solution with Murray!

(sarcasm font)

But think of how much Jake Luton has brought us. What could we have done with this season if we hadn't protected him instead of Murray?

He should return to the unemployment line.

I think he will be ok...you go out and try to catch a pass with the chill factor at -16 and your hands already frozen, bet you can't. He'll be find. Give the guy a chance. After all the great DIGGS missed a td that hit him in the hands maybe they should send him to the practice squad. Just saying.
