Man sadly it seems like that ship has sailed for him. Especially with the 2000 and 2010s generation of players now starting to become eligible.

Which of course segues into my next question: why isn't Jared Allen in the HOF right now? I mean I know he played for one of our biggest, most hated, historically difficult rivals to beat (Minnesota) but he had 136 career sacks, was voted to 7-8 Pro Bowls and he's been retired almost a decade now and he's still waiting? The reasoning and logic behind that lack of respect is strange and insulting, IMHO. He's actually become damn good at curling, too in his retirement.

I don't visualize J.J. Watt having to wait a decade after his retirement to receive induction (he'll be in on his first year of eligibility). But then again he and his family have maintained a much higher public profile, post-retirement. FWIW, I think his younger brother T.J. Watt may be better then him and have better overall career stats then him by the time he retires.

When they traded him to Detroit, were he and the front office not on good terms? I don't recall but I feel like there was frustration.

It seems obvious to us fans to make the honor for all of them, but the team has its own standard and favorites about ROH. The fans would probably have to clamor for it.

There is lobbying behind the scenes for a player to make the NFL hall of fame. That is the ultimate NFL honor. Sam Mills and now Jahri Evans have gone into the Ring of Honor ahead of for Mills was and Evans is likely to be a gold jacket.
It may be the year before hall of fame induction is a ring of honor induction template. It also may be Swilling never makes the NFL hall of fame but deserves to. Pat Swilling was NFL defensive player of the year and the trade that got the Saints Willie Roaf.
Hopefully Pat gets his gold jacket.

Every one of the dome patrol lb’ers should be in there imo. Mills should also be in the HOF imo.

Not sure on the good terms part…can’t remember.

I think that is correct. I think LaRoi Glover won D lineman of the year once.....

He should have handed it directly to Rickey Jackson.....RJ was getting doubles and chips pretty much all the time. I believe Swilling only had one double digit sack year after he left the Saints.....He was a good pass rushing DE, when opposite RJ he was great......

The ROH is a bit more "prestigious" so I get Pat's annoyance. The ROH is reserved for the elite of the elite. Brees is probably next up for the Ring of Honor. (of this current era, Cam is probably the only one getting Saints HOF and ROH, though Kamara will have a good argument for ROH).

Rickey and Sam are viewed as the two best of the Dome Patrol so I get it. I wouldn't be opposed if they put all 4 in the ROH eventually though.

Agreed. What’a the point of having a ring of honor if these guys aren’t in it?

It’s way too exclusive currently. At this rate, it’ll take 100 years to MAYBE get it filled halfway.

oroy and droy are just as important and we had both in the same year

that's only been done one other time:

Only two teammates have ever won the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year and AP Defensive Rookie of the Year awards. That happened in 1967, when the Detroit selected RB Mel Farr with the 7th pick in the first round of the draft and future HOF CB Lem Barney with the 34th overall pick in the second round.
