The players arguement is not valid.

During playoff games $25k is enough to get them to play...

Limited careers? a lot of Players make more in a year then I will make in my whole life and even at league minimum and a shortened career almost all players make more in an NFL career than I will in 2 life times.

Does the average Joe or Jane making 25k a year risk less? Putting in tireless overtime in a factory just to buy a ticket or turn on a TV to watch them play? I have no weight room...I have no one to rub my feet or back after a long day at work...I have no staff doctor or nutritionist to keep me fit...My work day is 8 to 12 hours 6 days a week with 15 minutes breaks after ever 4 hours of work (compared to 15 minutes at a time for four quarters of which there are TV time outs and players only play offense or defense which is only 30 minutes a game on average)... I have no house keeper to keep my kids...

You don't like your life? Trade Ya...Come be me a while and see how far you get when you go tell the boss, I want 57.5% of the profits...You'll get a big boot in the rear and join the other 10% of Americans without jobs...

I don't feel sorry for you!!!

!!!SHUT UP AND PLAY!!!

No offense, but you sound super jealous. I'll tell you the same thing I tell everyone who I see is jealous.

Don't get jealous, get motivated. America is the land of opportunity. Go out there and seize it.

And those two situations aren't remotely comparable. The players are the product. Imagine Windows going to Microsoft and demanding more cut of the dough. No players, no football. Owners exploit the players and the players get compensated for it. It's entirely mutual. That's how the business works. The players have as much right to the pot as the owners do.

Mason,

I am not Jealous of anyone, I love my live and wouldn't change a thing with how it turned out so far. For better or worse I would have no one to blame but myself if I didn't...

With that said, EVERY American working for someone else is exploited and used to make money for the people taking the risks. The only difference is the pay check due to marketability of the product. There is a UFL, AFL, and CFL full of players that would work for far less and the product would only suffer long enough for us to learn the new names. Don't kid yourself, Everyone is expendable including the 9 players on that lawsuit.

I would still be a Saints fan no matter who was in the uniforms.

Maybe you should be better at your job then. If you were in the top 1% of your field, I bet those negotiations would go better for you.

And they are getting paid all that $ to play a kids game. What a country!

They are getting paid all that money because that's what the market says they're worth. They're not "overpaid" or getting paid "unjustified" money. They're getting what they're supposed to be getting. They're top-of-the-line athletes in the most popular sport in America.

Would you just shut up and work if your boss was trying to take part of your paycheck, because he suddenly decided that he didn't want to pay you as much? No, you'd pitch a fit.

Do I think players are overpaid? Yes. Am I jealous? Yes. But if you or I were in their same situation, we would all do EXACTLY the same thing they are: Fighting to keep the current cba. Don't act like you wouldn't.

why does someone putting things in perspective have to be jealous??? why is someone offering criticism a "hater"?

I do extremely well financially and i agree with the op, does that make me Jealous?

Your right on OP, everyone needs to shut up and play football...

Correct me if I am wrong. The union is de-certified, players are under contract, and want to shut up and play.

One problem in their way is the LOCKS on the damn doors. They can't just shut up and go play. They are locked out (in case you forgot)

The players have said screw the CBA and are basically going in as independent workers. Unfortunately, the owners want the players in a union so they can continue to garner anti-trust exemption and still won't let them in, in fact they are counter suing claiming the de-certification is a sham.

I agree with your rant, but I direct it at the owners. Shut up, and let them play.

It's a sham, and everyone knows it. They just want leverage to make more money.

Call their bluff, let the players in, and forgo a CBA. Unless of course the owners need a CBA. Because the players have said they don't, if they are lying, open the doors and call their bluff. See if they come to work, or stay home waiting for the CBA to be done.

My guess is they all show up to work, and play under their current contracts.
