Sneaux next week [Historic snowstorm in southeast Louisiana on January 21, 2025]

I needed a cheap pair of boots, warm socks for boys and some staples for the upcoming blizzard
So that meant walmart
It was exactly the experience you imagine

All of our snow gear is in Denver at my sister's house.

I haven't heard the end of it.

There is no where on NS to find anything other than gloves. Just left Masseys and you don't wanna know price for a pair.

Maybe 300 customers are without power in scattered pockets of Terrytown and Belle Chasse, including chez Doug B. Intermittent power flickerings from 8:00 - 11:00 a.m., then a full outage immediately afterward.

Gotten three false “power’s back on!” messages. Entergy seems really stumped with this one. Not looking forward to when the real cold snap arrives.

Sadly most of the forecasted snow events around SELA usually turn into sleet, ice, or freezing rain events.
And there's nothing fun or enjoyable about that.

Most of the rest of the country laugh at what we call 'snowfall'. :hihi:
**** sneaux, and **** winter. I hate it.

My goals for snow preparedness included finding my snow shovel and finding a good bottle of bourbon. I was successful at both.

It finally looks like the snow forecast for south Louisiana is starting to moderate a bit. Two days ago nearly every weather outlet was predicting up to 5 inches of snow. Now they are all calling for a max accumulation of up to 3 inches. While there may be some isolated areas that get more snow, the real issue will be if the roads get icy. It sure won’t take much of that stuff to really make a mess of things.

No doubt most folks down here will get a light dusting of snow on top of the ice. And that will be nice as long as folks don’t try to drive around in it.
How are you going to do donuts if you don't drive??
