Specifically individual players - some good, some bad.

  • Hendrickson has 10.5 sacks, good for 3rd in the NFL behind Aaron Donald and T.J. Watt.
  • D. Davis, Hendrickson and Jordan all have 10 TFL while Onyemata has 9 (he also has 6 sacks). We're absolutely dominating the line of scrimmage!
  • One team statistic of note - 3rd in the league with 36 sacks behind PIT and PHI. I found it interesting that the Eagles are getting to the QB that much. Expect a heavy run game against them. They're 24th in the league in rushing yards allowed. Wentz leads the league in times sacked with 50. Will be interesting to see who starts for them.
  • A poster earlier mentioned that Brees (73.5%) and Hill (71.6%) lead the league in Comp%. Unfortunately Hill doesn't qualify as a leader because of the amount of passing attempts. It is still encouraging though.
  • Hill has 9 fumbles on the season, 3rd most in the NFL. It's been discussed a lot, I think we all agree he must clean this up. He almost gave the game away on that fumble out of bounds. High and tight!
  • Kamara is tied for 2nd in the NFL with 13 total TDs, behind Dalvin Cook and Tyreek Hill (both have 14).
  • Kamara is 3rd in the NFL with 1,328 total yards behind Cook (1,564) and Henry (1,419). On 70+ less touches too. MVP caliber season. Cook looks really good this year.
  • Guess who leads our team in receiving TDs? Jared Cook with 5. I only mention it because it seems we've been down on him lately. I hope he starts to play a little bit more consistent here down the stretch. He had better rhythm with Brees (obviously). He needs to step it up though - we need his frame and big man agility.
  • Deonte harris is 2nd in the NFL with 12.2 yards per punt return. He's 5th with 27.3 yards per kick return. He's definitely due for a touchdown soon. I'm calling it now - punt return touchdown for Harris next game.
  • I hate even mentioning this, but a lot of us have noticed a decline in Morstead this year. He's 33rd in the league (2nd worst) with 41.7 yards a punt. However, he is still top half in the league in Net Yardage and nearly top 5 in the league in Punts Inside the 20. He leads the league with 25 fair catches by the opponent. Is that indicative of good special team coverage or a weak leg? Probably a little bit of both. He still has the accuracy and that coffin corner talent though. Only 1 touchback, tied for 1st.
  • We only have 2 forced fumbles on defense this year. And they are both by Carl Granderson. Kind of odd.

  • And finally something that will make us all angry. The Saints defense has the 2nd fewest penalties committed in the NFL with 49. However, we lead the league in first downs by penalty with 39. That's insane. 80%!? Leads the league by far, next team is JAX with 54% of their penalties going for a first down. A majority of teams come in at 25-40%. We're at 2-3 times as much! Definitely something fishy going on there. Just sayin'. I see you NFL.

Anyways, hope ya'll found this interesting. Who Dat!

The Granderson tidbit is especially interesting! I mean, it was all interesting, but that's kind of crazy when you look at the number of snaps played.

Morestead isn't booming them like he used to but is still one of the best punters in the League.
Maybe that's why we hung on to a second punter this year. (Is that guy still on the team?)

Yes. He’s on IR.

Great stats. Defensive Line has been flat out dominant. The deepest position group on the team.

Morestead is probably playing his last year. He has been so good over the years. Need him to be consistent this year and not have any bad punts in crucial points in the playoffs. He has had a great run. He won't need the money, but wouldn't he make a great special teams coach if he wanted to do it somewhere?

Morestead directional punting was pretty elite yesterday when he was in good distance. It's why I found that 4th and 7 try to be weird. Morestead would coffin kick them in a bad spot.

Cool thread. Thanks for the stats. The tidbit on granderson is interesting. As a side note, Wentz will probably be warming the bench this weekend.
