Drew Brees' interceptions have got to stop. Every team has been trying (with much success) to bat his passes. Too many of them have been batted up and into picks by defensive linemen. Has any QB ever thrown so many pics to linemen? Not just pics but PIC-6's. I think Drew's beginning to get a rep for doing dumb things with the ball when under heavy pressure too. Several of his pics have just been Aaron Brooks-like boneheaded decisions. Your team is winning, it's first down in your own territory and you try to flip the ball while going down rather than take that sack? I know he puts a lot of presuure on himself but he should put better judgement on himself too. What is it now 11 straight games with a pick?
The film is out and teams are gonna come straight at Drew waiting for him to do it again. That needs to end beginning in Tampa.

Next is penalties. This one goes all the way around but when touchdowns are negated they become worse; when getting off the feild on 3rd down is negated and we give up another set of downs on defense it's giving away games. Will Smith has got to get his temper under control. I know the ref missed the call on the false start but what is getting a personal foul for UC gonna do to help us? There were several times on both sides of the ball where some extra stuff was going on but eventually the last man swinging or shoving gets the personal foul. Will's been that guy a few times.

Dropped balls by ?? You saw it. I will be Quiet and not mention anyone here because it's been a bit of everywhere. But the ones where you least expect them are troubling. The most consistent man must become just that again.

Ball security in general has been sub-par.

Finally. Will we ever get a good punt return? Worse, the tendency to cough it up by Bush is just scary. I'm about ready to advocate omitting the punt return from the gameplan; just let it bounce. We'd get just about the same return yardage but at least we'd retain possession.

I would have brought up the running game and it's purpose in the gameplan but that actually trended towards the better last game. But I still hope to see that to continue to trend upwards.

wow - how'd we ever get 11-4?

Figures... we were just a few plays away from losing that game and I can guarantee had we lost, these topics would have been 10 pages deep in the form of new threads.
These are the things that get teams beat.
We showed that we can beat the best in the NFC. That will ring hollow if we can't stop these things that get most teams beat. It'll catch up with any team eventually.

We control Tampa's destiny right now. I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for Josh but it ends at the scoreboard. I don't want them in the playoffs.

I don't want to see us do dumb things that get teams beat.

We won the game but are doing some things on a very regular basis that can get you beat.

I've played murdered messenger before so kill all you want but this message needs to be heard.

Teams don't consistently win, especially in January, making mistakes like the ones we continue to make.

And fair is fair. There have been some awful boneheaded decisions with the ball that resulted in ugly interceptions and sometimes pick 6's. In both Falcons games we saw them.

They reminded me of AB-like plays.

Just in case you missed it, Drew was running for his life Monday night !

Goodwin even admitted to making a horrible mistake on one of those plays after the game.

I noticed that every now and then, when Swimmer is not around, you like to create his threads for him. Looks like today is one of those days.

did not miss it... it was 1st and 10 too, with a lead.

11 straight games with a pick right?

I agree with your post. We are 30th in interceptions thrown per game -->
Link Most of the teams in the playoffs are in the top half of this stat list.

We are 11-4 and into the playoffs inspite of the high number of turnovers and that is credit to the team. But in the playoffs we cannot be tempting fate with such a performance.

we fixed our issues in the ravens game for the atlanta game and pretty sure for rest of season.

we'll fix the issues we had monday night for the bucs and the rest of the season.

and you have to remember, atlanta threw EVERYTHING they had at brees, and if it wouldn't of been for brees ability to get away from it, this game wouldn't of even been close.

O-line has to get it together, specifically Bushrod and Stinch. They are the 2 weakest links especially Stinch who is constantly getting blown up. Bushrod is just not the good, and not that bad.

I heard someplace on TV,may have been during the game, that Drew leads the league in batted balls. Drew's height will always be an issue. Once you collapse the front of the pocket and close off his throwing lanes he'll have problems if he can't escape out to the right or left.

O-line has to get better for sure. Running game has to get better.
With RB, PT and Ivory playing that should fix the running game. It will also make the O-line look better as the opposition will not be able to key on the passing game. Drew will not be scrambling for his life and receivers will be open more.

Lighten up.

I believe !!!!!
