Spots on kitchen wall (1 Viewer)

We've had some nickel-sized purplish spots on our kitchen wall for sometime now. It started out as two of them about 8 inches apart. Now there is one on each side of the original ones, about 6 inches away. And then another is forming in between on each side but up a couple inches. The spacing is very uniform as is the size of the spots. On the other side of this wall is our laundry room. The breaker box is installed there. Any ideas what this might be? The house was built after Katrina but I don't think it's Chinese drywall as we don't have a sulfur smell or corroded wires.

OK, this got interesting enough to re-read.

Is your dryer vent on the same wall as the spots?

Is your water line on this wall?

Do you show water stains on the base boards or on the back side of the wall?

Is there a pocket door on the wall that is showing stains?

It's obviously a portal to another dimension opening, from which will spurt through the evil spawn of satan.

That or this guy was having a little fun with Strawberry Shortcake and things got a little out of hand in your kitchen.

This is your answer. You've got moisture in there, which is causing the screws to oxidize. You could just hit it with some Kilz, and stop the coloration from bleeding through, but that won't stop the mold from growing under the sheetrock. Get in there and hit it with bleach, after you've solved your moisture issue.

Thanks.. I'm just trying to figure out where the moisture would be coming from. Roof leak? Laundry room?

I would think that if it was a lot of moisture, there would be a lot of mold on the wall since these spots have been there for 3+ years. Also, there are no such spots on the opposite wall inside the laundry room.

No to dryer vent on same wall.

Don't think the water line is there either.

No to water stains on baseboards and opposite site of wall.

No pocket doors.

The opposite wall does have the breaker box and our alarm system/cable/phone panel and is inside the laundry room.

It's not powdery is it. When termites get into sheet-rock, they will make little gray round spots.

Could be, but tear a hunk out and figure it out. It's its something serious like wood eating killer whales we need to know.

Ok, so here are some cell phone pics of the spots..

The first one is of the entire wall.. As you can see, there are 2 sets of spots and in person you can see that more spots are starting to form and keeping with the pattern of visible ones..

Also, I think I was wrong in the first post.. It's obvious that they're further apart in the middle than 8 inches..
