Pittsburgh escapes with victory thanks to some timely thievery

PITTSBURGH -- Of all the pregame hyperbole -- the guaranteed victory from Steelers linebacker Joey Porter, the cutting indictment from running back Willie Parker that his teammates were complacent -- it was a brief sentence from Saints quarterback Drew Brees that would prove to be the most prophetic.
"It's the most telling stat in football," Brees said of the turnover margin.
On Sunday, the team that led the league in turnovers had none.
And won.
The struggling defending Super Bowl champion Steelers did not turn over the ball once Sunday at Heinz Field and turned two of three Saints gifts into touchdowns in defeating New Orleans 38-31.
