Totally agree. I do not blame DC at all, not one bit.Teams screw over players all the time. The Saints had zero leverage to ask Carr for or get a pay cut. It's such a non-issue. Carr was right to say it as a pre-emptive way of saying, 'hey, you gave me a contract, the crap is not my fault, don't even think of projecting leverage over me you do not have.' Also at issue at the time was the threat hanging over the Saints that if Carr could not pass a physical with his injuries, he would have been guaranteed a $30M roster bonus.
Carr was just saying that 'business is business,' and whatever money you committed to him was his, period.
Now some of you are wondering if the Saints are going to flush Carr and another $17M June 1 or later, and for what exactly in return? Nothing worth $17M, that's for sure. That's a dead money charge on the 2025 cap and does not free up any new money. They just resolved and restructured for him to stay, so pivoting away from him makes no sense.
This is far more business decision than embrace of this player, as we all likely agree he is not the future.
Everything else you read or hear is alot of useless noise, in my opinion.
The headline of Carr's restructure is that they would prefer to pay his exit bill off the 2026 cap, when it may be less painful than having done it in 2025.
I do very much hope that this is Carr’s last on the team, wish him well and thank him for his services but he’s just not the future imo.
I’ll be very sad (football wise) if he is here next season too.
