It's my wife's birthday Monday and she wants stuffed flounder. We will be in town Friday thru Tuesday. Planned are the Saints game, birthday party, restaurants, and generally monkeying about town.

Is there a restaurant around anymore that serves whole stuffed flounder? Must be bone in with really god crabmeat stuffing. We liked Brunings...(alas).......

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks dude..... Deanies stuffed flounder is made with a couple of filets...at least it was the last time I was there.... heard good things about Borgne....menu looks great...wonder if the flounder is whole?

Whole Stuffed Flounder. On the endangered list.
No more Barts. No more Brunings. No more Fitzgeralds.

barts has to be gone close to 20 years now. that sucks.

You might try Fury's. They have it from time to time.

thanks buzd... Fury's in on my list... Fitzmorris has it on his top 12 list... my sister likes it a lot...
Fury's was packed one night so we tried Fausto's for Italian.. Fury's mixes in seafood and other stuff too.. good suggestion...maybe I should call ahead and ask them to plan for me coming...

The wife will be surprised...

I know. It does suck. I grew up going to Barts.. Loved their old claw machine.. remember watching some old dudes canepole for fish in the canal outside below the bathrooms..before they had piped in sewer lines...
They must have been fishing for Fitzgerald's.....:hihi:

low standards ---my lovely wife wanted a stuffed tom selleck

I was taken to Deanies last trip to Nola. I gotta say we could not understand how bland the big fry was. I think New Englanders moved to NOLA and opened a place. You can call Del Manaco or any Emeril joint and request a dish for a special occasion...........I forgot to request lobster macaroni on my last trip. The redfish there is awesome too.

Deanie's is pretty marginal.

The kid had stuffed flounder a couple week ago at Borgne. Susceptible as I am to anything Besh does, I expected it to be good, but I really didn't expect a 50# 8 yr old to eat the whole thing. It was good. It had fennel in it which was prominent, but probably some Pernod, as well.

Top notch.
